Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

REZistance: Did Planescape go up yet?
Nope, Planescape is still waiting.

And speaking of Planescape, I have to go back and play that again. I DLd the mods for high res, full screen, etc. It's one of my favorite games that I never finished when I first had it. And that was mainly because I got trapped in an area and had made some poor character development choices. Maybe my older self will be somewhat more successful this next run through...

xenxander: I will go out on a limb and say it might be you typing in 'u', instead of 'you'?

Sometimes the 'netspeak' abbreviations annoy people. I am not speaking for everyone here, but I have noticed a trend.

Ungunbu: yes but YOU can't downvote me just for that --- come on!
I don't think you're being downvoted for using "leet-speak." Going by your posts in this thread, I'd guess you are being downvoted for various other reasons.
*whew*

nice, thanks guys

skirtish: Well, it's not just any meaningless number. It's the virtual equivalent of people in the room you're in going "you SUCK." That does tend to have an effect on most people.
That was more in reference to the bot. It means nothing if it's a bot.

booyabojangles: Getting butthurt over the content of a game is silly if you're going to play the game anyway. Avoid if it doesn't sound like your bag. I've been told I've missed out on a ton of good games because I hate, hate anything done in Japanese anime style-- but I don't care. I will continue to avoid that shit because I'd rather shake hands with a parking enforcement officer before watching or playing anything remotely resembling Japanese anime or manga made after what I grew up watching as a kid.
avatar
Velgor: Yeah, I"m not a fan of Anime or Manga or whatever... It's just too strange for my tastes. I know a few people who absolutely love it, so it's all a matter of taste.

However, if anyone does any trash-talk about Python, well...them's fighting words! ;)
I used to watch cartoons like M.A.S.K, Jayce and the wheeled Warriors, Transformers, il était une fois l'espace (once upon a time, space) just to name a few and I also watched Manga and Anime. There really is some good ones, like Ghost In The Shell (if you are a Blade Runner fan like me, watch this movie you won´t regret it).

Monthy Python rules and so does Fawlty Towers, I watch that one so many times one of the best comedies ever made=).

GR3G0R14N: Thanks for the opinions guys. I own the dark project [without gold's bonus missions] and metal age [good ol' cd's] and never actually had a chance to check deadly shadows u_u - so now I've got dillema which one to buy [the gold with extra content or 3rd one to continue the story - which'll further expand in thief 4 I presume].
avatar
Ninlil: Mmh. Deadly Shadows. There is 3 or 4 extra levels in Thief gold, and they are big, but Thief DS is a whole game.
However I'm not sure the new Thief will be a direct sequel, it seems a reboot.

Since you own the original CD, I suggest you to use Tafferpatcher for T2 and TFix for T1 to install and upgrade your games. You can find them on ttlg.com.
Okay, thanks! didn't know there were upgrades such as those : )
And yes i double checked - thief 4 is actually a reboot. At least without QTE as demanded by players, but still with that eagle-slo-mo-vision of some sort ; /

Mathematically speaking, that would be the number multiplied by -1
What you meant to say is "It's the virtual equivalent of people in the room you're in going "you ARE OK".".
Got Tales of Monkey Island, yo.

Actually it's best to look at it like that, just an arbitrary number. There's also the symbolism behind the word 'reputation' of feeling respected. Would be best however to just ignore the whole thing. Once people use the system not to show their like, but make a competitve game of it in which you can turn against someone, the best thing to do is step above the childishness of the system and ignore (though I'm not implying it's childish if you feel crossed by downrepping - it's a natural human emotion - as social animals we are born to care about reputation).

DubConqueror: There's something wrong with Tales, any kind of Tales, Tales last long. Remember the Book of Unwritten Tales half a day ago?
Heaven help us if the next game in the Jack Keane series is titled in such a manner.
*rubs eyes*

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

After catching up on hours of sleep and seeing that no game I wanted has come and gone I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the duds that slowed the sale to a nice glacial pace. God bless you all - especially you RCR!
avatar
HaydenRead: I would get Monkey Island if I didn't already have it... I wish it would just move on to the next game...
avatar
jackster79: I almost did get it, and then happened to check on more about it and found out I already have it! XD

I have heard of others saying this has happened to them, but I never thought it would happen to me: have too many games that I can no longer keep track of which ones I have!
I know that feeling, I have about 300 on Steam, another 20 or so on GoG, and 1 on Origin.

Ungunbu: going back to hacking

it's technically possible to write a program that downvotes every post on the forum
avatar
tobias683: Part of the reason you may be getting downvoted is because I do believe it is against the forum rules to talk about hacking with the exception of saying something along the lines of "OMG such and such server got hacked and peoples info was stolen!" So basically any talk of hacking other than PSA's is against forum rules from my understanding.

I haven't downvoted you or anyone. Just an FYI.
i didn't know it was against the rules

anyway i only stated it's possible --- didn't say how do to that
and i'm not doing that also!

thanks anyway to make me notice that

Do you get to see if it was a bot?
