Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

xenxander: I will go out on a limb and say it might be you typing in 'u', instead of 'you'?

Sometimes the 'netspeak' abbreviations annoy people. I am not speaking for everyone here, but I have noticed a trend.

Ungunbu: yes but YOU can't downvote me just for that --- come on!
At least he actually told you why he did it, unlike the other tools on here silently ninja downvoting you from the shadows.

xenxander: I haven't downvoted anyone, thus far. So don't fret, it's not me who's negative-voting you. :P
i know i didn't meant it was you --- i'm not an english speaker you know --- sorry about that

shadowbaneaxe: The only problem I have with it is that - while the conclusion is good enough - after the ending credits you get to see a bit that teases you for a sequel. And that sequel might not be made by TellTale games, because they are focusing on different franchises now. Disney owning LucasArts probably isn't helping either.
I've read that Mr. Ron Gilbert himself said he would like to buy the Monkey Island IP from Disney and make a proper sequel to the first 2 games. And it's pretty clear that if Ron Gilbert will ever do a Kickstarter for "The real Monkey Island 3" people is gonna sell their mothers for it, therefore money is not gonna be an issue. So it's just up to Disney, i guess. It's all a matter of them being ok with selling the IP or not. Knowing how assholish they generally are about their own IPs, i highly doubt they will. They will probably just keep it despite being not in the slightest interested to do anything with it.
Could we please stop bullying people by downvoting them? It's not funny (even though the system itself is stupid by itself, the possibility for hetzes makes it even less fun).

Ninlil: Mmh. Deadly Shadows. There is 3 or 4 extra levels in Thief gold, and they are big, but Thief DS is a whole game.
However I'm not sure the new Thief will be a direct sequel, it seems a reboot.

Since you own the original CD, I suggest you to use Tafferpatcher for T2 and TFix for T1 to install and upgrade your games. You can find them on ttlg.com.

shadowbaneaxe: When exactly do you get to the new levels in Thief Gold?

I did buy it, but I've only played the original. Wondering how much of it I'll have to play again to get to see the new stuff.
They are inserted between the regular missions. The original levels are more polished, with little changes here and there. Well, in one case a major change. I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but if you don't mind them, you can check this wiki :) : http://thief.wikia.com/wiki/Thief_Gold

Velgor: I have only DL'd one of my purchases from this sale, "I Have No Mouth..." And that was on round 1. I'll bet the servers are taking a beating and will be crazy over the next few days as people begin to DL the mega-GB worth of files they've purchased. It's certainly going to be...interesting. :)
avatar
Faenwulf: I loaded everything I bought so far already, except for Brütal Legend and WC4. Brütal Legend is loading right now. ;)
But the rest were mostly peanuts, Planescape was the biggest with 1.1 GB.
The witcher is 10gigs I believe.

Good to know...I've got probably around 20gbs to DL. I think Riddick is the biggest at 5.8gb.

Phew, Monkey Island to the rescue. I had to duck out for a half hour appointment, but I haven't missed anything.

Edit: Oh, except we passed page 1000! 20000 posts!

that's not the point --- LOL

Schemilix: I played a Monkey Island game a while back, I was young so all I remember is a jawbreaker, a duel and Guybrush joking about how many carrots his girlfriend ate.
This Tales of Monkey Island is a newer remake, of the old Mystery of Monkey Island I think...

So it may not be the same game that you remember...
