Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Hey, you people complaining "CANT GET FREE GAMES, SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG"

We are like Tens of Thousands making clicks at 40-50 free games, all of us who didnt get one we are not victims of anything, we are just the most probable statistic: not getting any.

Its like complaining for not winning the lottery, not that "something is wrong" but most probably "the chances of getting a free game are too damn low! ®" :P

Alien_Space_Bat: I got Tex Murphy free last night just doing what I'd done around 7 times previously with the free games clicking the mouse as fast as I could when the game appeared.
sorry but that doesn't mean anything

Derwisch: The List is not correct... Lucius was already on sale !
avatar
Khalaq: So, you're saying that you were there when Lucius came up for its third and "last chance" offering? If yes, then I will put it upon myself to edit the list.
I don't believe it has.

Also, I missed a FREE game in the list (maybe around might and magic?) if someone knows what it is, I'll update.

EDIT: It was between Startopia and Magrunner and someone posted when I updated the list at that time. Is there a way to see all MY OWN posts? If so, I can find it from there.

jpwiseguy: Why is Icewind Dale 1 in this sale, but not Icewind Dale 2?
Because monies.. but do you fault them, really?
avatar
Schemilix: Does nobody else see the problem inherent in LSL?
avatar
mkell_226: Which exact problem do you mean? There are quite a few, depending on who you ask.

First and foremost is the fact that Al Lowe just isn't funny.
Well other than the fact that I don't get the sex appeal of women that badly drawn, it's... well it's pretty much the epitome of a product that sells by being degrading and tasteless. And this coming from someone who likes the Amazon out of Dragon's Crown because she's pretty damn hot and kicks your ass while she's at it, so I'm no prude.

Xabyer_B: 1º.-Rune
2º.-Outlast
3º.-Edna & Harvey or The raven: the legacy
4º.-Giana Sister: Rise of the owlverlord ( Not confuse with 1ª part Twisted Dreams).
5º.-Unepic.

olgfara: the "Free Games" has no chance without bots!

Howlrunner: I am completely inclined to agree with this. I have no idea how others can react so fast without some kind of assistance. Have bought a number of games already, and I sit there waiting for it to go to the next one, then automatically click to "Buy" the next game, usually going to the sale part. However, the few times it is a "Free" Game on offer, you automatically get told that the deal has expired.
Now, my connection isn't slow, and neither is my PC nor my reflexes, so GOG should really take a look at this., Perhaps give a free game to people who have actually spent money, rather than people just setting up some kind of program to snipe as much as they can for free instead.

Seems poorly thought out to my mind.
I see what you're saying, but also think about the fact that there are hundreds, or even thousands of people sitting there waiting for it to change. If a couple hundred people click buy all at the same time, and there's only 40 copies, it'll definitely appear that it's gone instantly.
Sooooo does anyone of you actually plan too play any of the games you bought or buy or do you just buy because it's cheap? :P
39 Steps 2EBKA-LHJT3-P6HG9 Steam Code

Sorry if this is a double post...system wonkie
Gog has Rune? Dear gods, I need that game. I played that so friggin often. Singleplayer and with friends.

jpwiseguy: Why is Icewind Dale 1 in this sale, but not Icewind Dale 2?
Maybe a grand finale 5000 copies ? kinda wish^^

jackster79: Well, since we have to wait for Larry to take his good ol' time, here is something I thought we could use to pass it while we wait:

What GOG game do you already have from GOG do you wished was included in this sale so that others could enjoy it?
avatar
Faenwulf: Witcher 1 obviously.
And the Wing Commander 1+2 Pack.
Not sure why I did not think of the Witcher (seeing as how 2 is included in the sale), but Wing Commander caught me by surprise. I played that one on the SNES back in the day. Not sure why but with first-person-perspective flight sims (air or space) I seem to have trouble with that 3rd dimension...

avatar
pacogens: The Swapper
I had completely forgotten about that one. I wishlisted it upon its release, and that was the last I looked at it. It does seem to have an interesting premise.

Seems silly too to ask such a question and not offer up my own idea. I would have to go with:
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father
Realms of Arkania (all three)
Starflight 1 & 2 (more for 1 than 2)
Anyone knows what i missed in the last 3 hours ?
avatar
jpwiseguy: Why is Icewind Dale 1 in this sale, but not Icewind Dale 2?
So you buy it later on another sale or now to complete the collection.

CarrionCrow: Here's to hoping Larry contracts a sexually transmitted disease that causes his testicles to grow teeth, stretch and expand to ridiculous lengths, then chew through his abdomen like a dog gnawing the last bit of meat off a bone.
Haha! Funny and creative! +1 :)
