Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Damn, haven't managed to get a single free game despite mashing my middle mouse button on the Buy button just as the sale starts to flip. They really ought to raffle off the free games; this system is too much like Wall Street where companies pay mountains of money to shave a couple milliseconds off of the latency between servers.

Retro City Rampage looks interesting, but I played it on a Wii and didn't get into it. The game throws a lot at you without enabling you to figure out how to accomplish it easily enough, plus it has some annoyingly long cutscenes at the beginning. I would probably drop a dollar on it, but not much more.
once again, too slow for the free game, this is like my twentieth attempt. At least now i have like ten new old games from this promo :D
I ACTUALLY won a game. Whoah. Aquanox 2, hmmm, not something I was gonna buy, but it doesn't look half-bad.

digiraver: omg the freebies are a joke... :(
2 whole days and i'm still not getting one.
Awww man.. I missed Deus Ex? :(
Nearly 10% done on RCR. Faster than I thought. If I can wait JUST ONE MORE title...

wackyanne: And yup - Extended BASIC, what a step up ;)
Lol! I can imagine!

Hard to believe how far the technology has come in such a short time. My kids can't imagine that life without MTV, the internet, or home gaming systems actually existed.

Yeah, I guess your browser has to be polling the server in the very right moment otherwise you can have lightning reflexes and not get the damn thing.
Nooo... Noooooo! Hoping for the game you want to appear, then having RCR show up in it's stead is bringing back painful memories of wait times involving rare mob spawns back in everquest. The horror.
I'm not going to give up, dammit!

I shall never surrender! *roaring*

bew1977: Seriously? 3 slog sales in a row?

nijuu: they are hardly going to fit them in right at the end ;)
Space Colony HD. Only game I want still. I know the instant I go to sleep that in 3-4 hours this will end and my game will appear for 3-4 minutes and I'll have missed it forever.
Am I the only one slightly interested in this?
Gonna try and sneak in a 2hr nap.

Don't you dare pull a fast one on me and take down Retro before all 600 copies are sold!

I've been on/off this sale over the last 3 days and I still haven't got my top of the list title:

Tropico 3

I'm right there with ya. Been trying without success to snag a free one on and off since the whole thing started.

Bought a few games so far:
Rogue Legacy
HoMM3
Populous: The Beginning (already own Pop2, will probably pass on the Pop1 sale)
NWN2 (I hope NWN1 doesn't go on sale while I'm sleeping tonight!)
