The infinity starts with history, and the history of games is painted in the colors of our childhood memories. Today we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of ScummVM and pay tribute to a group of people behind the scenes who make sure some of GOG's timeless classics work smoothly on modern computers!

About ScummVM

ScummVM is a program that allows you to run many classic point-and-click adventure games and RPGs on modern computers. The program replaces executables shipped with games and makes them playable on systems for which they were never designed! ScummVM rewrites executables but does not require emulators and complex setups. For many years, thanks to ScummVM, you can enjoy many timeless classics on GOG!

Check the collection of GOG games supported by ScummVM and launch your time machine this weekend with our special deals up to 85% off. The promo ends on 11th October 2021, 1 PM UTC.

MarkoH01: Unfortunately this is almost false advertizing from GOG since several of the games listed in the ScummVM Anniversary sale don't come with the actual ScummVM release here on GOG. Technically it might be possible to take the necessary files from the GOG release and install ScummVM directly but imo GOG should rather update those games that are missing their ScummVM version before doing such a sale.
There is a major update for ScummVM in the works. It will include the ResidualVM games (e.g. The Longest Journey) because it is now a part of ScummVM. It adds support for AGS games versions 2.5+. It repairs Maniac Mansion where the removal of the copy protection caused a bug where you can also type incorrect numbers in the game, e.g. for Edna's phone number. It also adds support for many other games and includes several fixes for supported games. Right now they are testing things to find bugs. At this point it makes no sense to update anything.

I really hope they'll be able to get discworld noir in the engine one day, especially if it can be made available for sale again. Currently the only way to really play it is to emulate an old 98 pc, use a real win98 pc or play the psone version (which is much lower res) it's a prime example of bad drm ruining a game's longevity as it could be finicky even on win xp.
dreamweb is one of my absolute favorites, it's on the scummvm website, yet not here as a freebie like many other games. how come? I was hoping this post would make it happen but still no.

GOG.com: ...
Gosh, the missing Humongous games using ScummVM would have been nice. :p ;)

That aside, DreamWeb as a freebie would have been nice too (a lot of wishlist votes), but it is of course on the ScummVM site. I contacted Neil Dodwell years ago, but nothing came of it.

Freeware games "housed" on the ScummVM site:

Thank you for the information. Would have been nice if GOG would have said something like this followed by "and we will update those games with the new ScummVM as soon as possible" though. Here they advertize ScummVM games that don't include ScummVM - and that's incorrect.

Edit: Noticed that GOG already changed the list and removed the games without ScummVM. Thank you GOG and nevermind.

Indeed now the games that support ScummVM but not specifically in the GOG version have been deleted from the list and the rest has been added (Lucas, Sierra etc) doesn't matter if they are discounted or not.

So, my guessing about an eventual ScummVM update is not so evident. It would be the perfect moment, though. The 20th anniversary

Still incomplete, missing all the LucasArts adventures and The 7th Guest.

It is still missing many games, like Teen Agent, Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist, etc.

The 7th Guest is also supported by ScummVM, but you have replaced the original game with the anniversary thing, so whether it belongs to the list in this context can be debated.

Isn't the 7th guest version the remastered one?. In its core it is still a modified ScummVM version but the same as Simon the Sorcerer or Fenimore Fill more and they were deleted from the list as well, so with the 7th Guest cse it would be the same criteria

Teen Agent and Freddy Pharkas run under Dosbox in GOG

Gudadantza: Teen Agent and Freddy Pharkas run under Dosbox in GOG
But is that relevant?
The first post in this thread says about the link "check the collection of GOG games supported by ScummVM", but the actual page says "collection of GOG games using ScummVM".

So which information is correct?

Is the list supposed to be about games that come bundled with ScummVM on GOG, or is it supposed to be a list of games on GOG that are also supported by ScummVM?

Obviouly it is relevant if you paid attention to the last movements. They have changed the list to fit those games which come bundled with GOG

The previous list was more of a ScummVM compatible games in General. And indeed Freddy Pharkas and Teen Agent were present in the list

bioshark: We should all start "archiving" our old gaming machines, not only our games. That way we will be able to enjoy them for many years to come without having to depend on new releases or emulators.

P.S. I do have my old gaming rig (2000ish era) up and running with Win7 in the attic just in case. :)
Yup, I figure keep a machine/os for each decade. Emulation and the like are fine and all...but to experience on its original platform ... amazing.
You might as well add the games you sell that are actually supported by ScummVM but you sell with DOSBox instead. It's not like it's the hardest thing in the world for someone to just add ScummVM themselves if they wanted. People have to do that for all games on the list anyway if they wanted them to run under ScummVM for Android on their phone / tablet.

Looks like the list is still work in progress...

Some games are listed on the ScummVM site as supported like Ultima VIII or Crusader but do not work in the current stable version.
