Great to see, that the spam reporting works so well.

I wonder why they deleted the spam reporting thread!

CarChris: I wonder why they deleted the spam reporting thread!
I can answer that: because they have this new shiny report link now.

Oh, I hadn't noticed. However, it looks somewhat more time-concuming than just copy-paste the spam thread into that spam-reporting thread. :(
Spam, spam never changes.
It is getting out of hand pretty fast. It is not just new threads but they even post in other people active threads. I don't remember but do you have to verify your e-mail to be able to post on the forums? I hope that is the case! Maybe they should limit people being able to post in the first 24/48 or even more hours of registration unless you buy something

The bots are spamming the forum, I'm spamming support with reports about bot spam, and they're spamming my mailbox with support ticket receipts. A vicious cycle.
Was there ever any explenation as to why the idea to lock out accounts without games from posting was never implemented?

Reports are filed within a matter of seconds. You practically only have to select 'report content' or 'user,' add a subject: 'Bot/Fraud,' and a short text: I request the removal of the following bot/content: link-to-topic/post, done.
I was not a big fan of the rep system, but with that system it was easy to report spam. Just one click and you we're able to report spam.

The excuse I've heard posited before by other users is that it would be tantamount to gatekeeping.

Which, perhaps; but even passing the "are you able to redeem & download this title" litmus test would keep both spambots and the technically illiterate out.

Gatekeeping how? Are those few clicks to get one of the free games such a bother?

Yes, especially titles such as Tyrian 2000 or Cats hidden in Paris.
This way of reporting was considered a good idea by multiple people. It has "What could go wrong....?" all over it lol

And then you get delayed spam when the mods get around to dealing with it a week later. Delicious!

How many times must we say it? The report system was broken for years. That report system wasn't being monitored even if it was working.
