So I heard that one of the 5 police officers who were killed in America was a former soldier and a veteran of the Iraq War. Soldiers are essentially trained to kill people, while police officers are meant to protect people and keep the peace, so should former military men be barred from serving in the police force?

America has lots of incidents of police killing people (unjustly?) + tens of thousands of former soldiers from the Iraq and Afghanistan war looking for work = perhaps ex-soldiers who view the civilian population as an "enemy force"?

that is a bit of a reach especially with out any substantial evidence and credible sources american municipalities mass employ veteran's as police officers
it may tentatively( tenuously even) explain some of the police officers extreme tendencies to resort to extreme violence but it doesnt explain the blatant racism
