The prices are great and there's so many old favorites here but every single one i've clicked on, at least 15 now, has a one star review because of game breaking bugs or incompatability. I don't understand how this company gets away with it. Did we click some kind of waiver unknowigly? Like, "Warning, this game may or may not work after you purchase it It is what is is..."

In today's age, I don't really count on reviews much. Especially here, where if you don't even own the game, you can still review it.

I've never seen anything posted for sale or review online that doesn't have at least one one star review. It's inevitable because people will use the review system to serve a function other than to actually review the product or will blame the product or company for issues that are actually related to problems on the users side.

At release almost every game is buggy and then most people don't bother to update their reviews when it's finally fixed.

^This.
Those 1 star reviews are often severely outdated, so it's always recommended to check if what was criticized back then is actually still the case.

You mean that every game has at least one computer it doesn't work properly on? What a shocker!</sarcasm>

My mistake. I should have read what i typed before submitting lol. All I see are 1 star reviews. I'm now assuming theyre sorted from lowest to highest rating. Too used to Steam I guess. I now see the overall rating above too. Much better! haha

Correction: they can't update their review -- not without going through Support.
Yes, this is extremely stupid. No, it has never changed (as far as I am aware) in GOG's 11+ years of business.

Doh, I don't usually write reviews so I haven't noticed this, but it'a a bummer if you can't edit your review.

To me this is fair if a person just reviews on things that are the same between versions.....like plot/characters/etc.

I don't think it's possible to edit reviews. But Soon™. lol

well, sure I can agree with that.

but to me, the whole reviews and ratings systems here on GOG has lost it's value after all those wonderful reviews about circumcisions and such.

nothing about plot/characters in those.

I'd rather just check youtubers or play the "demo", so to speak.

There's bad eggs in every aspect of life.....you just need to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Sadly, some youtubers can fall prone to bias as well(for or against some devs no natter what they make for various reasons, being paid off in some cases, etc).

yeah, and that's why the "demos" are the best way to see if the game really is for you.
To be fair, up keeping the value of reviews is hard given the amount of games. Best you can do is look around the games media/content creators and find someone who fits similar tastes.
