HeresMyAccount: Well I think I might be able to use the keyboard well again, even outside of Windows. I had more problems with VS today because somehow my external drive automatically remapped its letter and a bunch of file paths didn't work, so I had tried to reinstall some stuff unsuccessfully, and then realized that the drive letter was wrong and changed it back. Why would it do that?
If you have connected several external drives to you PC, win will auto change to fit its need. If C is taken then D will be selected, and if D is taken then it will select E and so on...

However, if you manually selcect one for that particular drive, the OS should remember it. Lets say one disk on R: and one on O:, just to create some "space" away from C,D,, and E for the OS to operate on. Especially useful for those you use often... then if you insert a drive that is or has an unknown ID, windows will just use the next free one alphabetically.

PS: Use A or even B for the one you connect often or use all the time. These was meant for floppy drives back in the day, but it just somehow got stuck with us even to this day. Windows will, to my experience, never auto select these two.

sanscript: However, I understand why Linux is not an option...
Maybe because he is having enough issues as is and doesn't need to add learning a new OS(even a bit) on top of it all? ;)

I know, and you've helped a ton...I was just jokingly stating OP's preference/desire as to using linux atm, not trying to make a jab at ya. :)

(If I came off as rude/etc I apologize)

Eh, I like fairfox's posts sometimes...the mangling of proper english is silly to do all the time, but eh it's their style I guess.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I should know this by now; he/she/it was, you/they were :D
Well these new posts have had some interesting information, which I'll consider more thoroughly and perhaps make a reply or something when I have time, but my toilet overflowed and I have grocery shopping to do, so I just thought I'd make this quick post as an acknowledgement, if little else.

We realllly need to get you a bunch of four leaf clovers and horse shoes......your luck seems to go from bad to worse to wtf. o.0

That said I hope you get it all sorted out soon(toilet being messed up being no fun, as I can attest...ours was clogged a few weeks back). :)
Yeah, it flooded the bathroom, so I had to clean the floor, and I couldn't get the plunger into the toilet without displacing enough water to flood it worse, so I used a bucket to transfer some water into the bathtub, but some shredded little bits of toilet paper then clogged the drain. Oh well.

In like the last two months I've had the TV break and have to be replaced, the cable/phone/Internet/Amazon Prime video all went out and I needed someone to get into the wires in my wall to fix it, the furnace kept dying over and over again and needed to be fixed by like five different guys, then the humidifier broke and also needed to be fixed, as well as the thermostat, when I was using a small heater when the furnace didn't work, I turned on the light in my bathroom, thus overloading a circuit and shutting off power to several rooms, later when the furnace was fixed the power went out on the whole block, etc.

And of course this stupid Windows/Visual Studio/computer software/hardware all encompassing problem has been nagging at me the whole time.
