It's a very touching story, absolutely in the spirit of Christmas. Allow yourself some credit, a helpful push in the right moment can really make life-changing difference. ;)

Sure, I don't deny that I did something good. But I just wouldn't say that I changed someone life - she did it all by herself. I think the whole situation is more like "a small good deed may be a beginning of something great". But the hard work was on her side. And finding me to tell me about it was simply amazing :D

I don't have a fireplace so I created mine with wood logs with a red tinsel within. Of course, Santa won't come through it...

Right click it on your pc and click edit(if on Windows)...then when paint opens save it as JPG and name it/save it to the right folder so you know where it is. Then post it. :)

(Also you can shrink it with the resize tools in the menus of paint as well if the size is too big and that's what is causing the file size to be too big. :))

Personally I've always preferred low-key decorations, and time/money factor into that as well. But I do love a tree and remember from childhood sitting in the dark with Christmas records playing, and growing up lower middle-class we had colored lights (red, green, yellow, and...blue?) and a hodgepodge of ornaments with no particular color scheme or style. Everything we had went up on the tree every year, because there wasn't much left over.

My spouse grew up in a family that was poorer than mine, and yet they splurged on Christmas ornamentation, with 4-5 different sets of ornaments, so one year would be themed as angels and white lights, the next something completely different.

Since we've gotten hand-me-downs from both of our families over the years, we have a mishmash of both - certainly more than we can fit on a single tree, but not quite so extravagant or bounteous (or organized, tbh) to have a distinct style from year to year.

We have two of my favorite ornaments from my childhood - a plush snoopy laying on his doghouse, and a painted plastic ornament of a mouse and a rabbit flying downhill on a sled.

My family still has a bunch of ornaments passed down for a few generations...both old and newer.....it is fun to look at them and reminisce. :)

Santa is capable of many a magical feat. I wouldn't be surprised if he found a way.

I also visited a Christian school. Fun thing is that it was a catholic school and I was one of the very few protestant students (I think only 5 - 10%). Because of that we got free days on catholic holidays, but also on protestant ones when our friends had to go to school. There was also a mass every Wednesday and it was duty for the younger students. We were allowed to skip it though and go to school one hour later. I think our classmates were jealous at us quite often.

And Santa left you a gift in your stocking. Maybe you can give him cookies and milk from that old mug in return.

Have you guys seen the movie Santa Clause? It's almost like skimmie and PaterAlf have taken on the role of Santa in that movie.

I'll enter. I've been enjoying reading the posts so far, they fill me with Christmas spirit.

Several of the ornaments on my Christmas tree are handmade. Some came from my grandmother, others were gifts from family friends. Some are made from felt, some are crosstitched, and some are painted ceramic. But all of them carry meaning, and they make the tree very special.
