Juli 2020 was a weird month, in that month i actually did not buy any game at all. This figure is taken over the period juli 2019 to present. (705 games total )

in average i game about 40 hours a month.....

Seems i need to pull down a bit here, and go up a bit there to be presented as an average type of human ;-)

How many gaming hours do you pull on average?

That's why I deactivate time tracking completely.
I don't want to know the hard truth...
Of course, there's a difference between time spent in game and time spent playing a game. If I'm playing something a bit older (where the idle processing when left in a menu isn't going to cook my home office), I'll very often leave it on the menu with the screen off while I'm doing other things.

Less likely to do this with something that is causing my computer to throw out heat though...

I wouldn't mind time tracking in games (console anyways) if the time was more accurate. It updates every second, but when you're paused in the menu after 5 seconds of inactivity it should stop and wait, because it's not active time played. Nothing like pausing your game to eat and then coming back to finish a level and saving, then looking at the times to determine which one is more advanced when in truth it's lying...

And who doesn't? :P

Collecting games and playing games are actually different hobbies
I am glad the GOG forum and youtube.com don't track how much time I've spent on them.

Or do they?!?

My average falls down due to the lack of time. In the past 90-100 hours per month was quite frequent. Now it ranges around 30-40 hours, but it'll probably fall down even further. :( It's hard to count the hours in my case however, because not all of the launchers support time tracking even when imported into Galaxy. I have to manually assess the time spent in those games.

I tend to clock only a couple hours each week actually playing video games.

I would love to play more than that, but the hard limits on 24 hours a day and 7 days a week are quite restricting…
I intentionally do not track time played, and wish that I could purge the existing hours in there from when that feature was added before I was able to get it turned off. These other graphs are more reason not to use Galaxy 2, too.

Do you like being advertised live services and heavily DRMed products in the top right corner there? Because I sure as hell don't. And I've submitted a bug repeatedly -- they don't care and keep it there with no option to remove.

Heh!

While i don't enjoy any advert i don't feel overly agitated by any if done so the way galaxy offers. I've been used to steam for to long for that regard and i actually enjoy knowing what new games are released on a day by day basis. Personally i do care about game time, also since i really want to try and get at least my money out of every game on a dollar per hour ratio, if not for my wallet then at least for my gamer sanity, sadly i fail a lot at that point but since i did start paying attention the fail ratio has lessened and, what i like, what i don't like and what i actually spend time on has become a lot clearer though sadly still not as defining as 4x is good and action is bad. there does seem to be an evolving trend towards indie released titles that harbor the edge of 4x/management/war ( or better said is an all time favorite ) but even that does not increase the odds of buying only games that will be played for good hours, not to mention how only established titles are almost only able to provide a complex environment with sense.

Another reason why i started with galaxy is that i had the idea that, while i don't have a lot of time to game online i do enjoy watching the results from others on the gaming plane. this led to a couple of searches for likeminded friends but those both ended up failing miserably, it seems i only managed to find either friends that game only certain periods, do not log their hours, do game but only with games i really don't want to know anything about or....... people that have so much time to game it is depressing to even be in their vicinity

In the last 3 mos... 0 hours per month.

A few posts on GOG are about as close as I can get to gaming ATM
I would get a lot more enjoyment out of time tracking if it was a little smarter and paused when it sensed no activity like was suggested earlier in this thread.
I average 2-3 hours a day according to multiple clients. That's while working part time during a pandemic though, it probably used to be 1-2. I don't have kids so I think this is fine and reasonable.

I bet they do. And if they don't (yet) then they surely will (and retrospectively).

My spouse has an Amazon Kindle account. It knows how long a book takes to read, what page the reader stops reading (if the book is abandoned) and where the reader pauses and for how long, AND how long it will take to finish the current book.

As for YouTube (and Netflix etc.) they will be recording what you watch (if only for marketing purposes) and I would bet they know (just like Amazon) where you stop, where you pause, where you rewind and re-watch, and every other pattern they can extract. So all of you who like to watch a particular scene from Game of Thrones (or whatever) will be recorded forever in their register (in case they can use it for selling you something, like toys of all categories :-") and possibly for psychological analysis (like the investigator played by Morgan Freeman in [the movie Se7en, who used the antagonist's library borrowing record to track his delinquency).
