Blackdrazon: By the way, I'd have sworn there was a list of GOG games using older or alternate builds of DOSBox out there somewhere, either on the forums or on GOGWiki, but I can't find it at either. Does anyone know where it is?

Grargar: I do.

List.
GOGmix.
Thanks for the link and the list!

Themken: The 'current' version of DOSBox is now seven (yes 7) years old. The development is dead, quite dead. Any programmers around that feel like doing some necromancy?
1. DOSBox 0.74 isn't 7yrs old yet
2. No development isn't dead. Check the changelog.

* [r4008] src/ints/bios.cpp: Correct INT 15h function 6 to return
error. Prevents Cyrus Chess from erroneously detecting an Amstrad
system.
3. If they aren't already contributing they probably never will. Probably too busy writing apps for mobile devices for easy money instead of coding for DOSBox in their spare time as a hobby for free.

I apologise.
Alright so my search was obviously too superficial as all I found was no activity for several years and latest release (0.74) from May 2010. We now have end of April 2017. I think that makes it seven years for us normal people who have no idea how to compile or program. Good if it is still recieveing fixes, even better if there would be a new release too this year.

Yeah, sometimes devs seem to confuse beta changelogs with actual news :P
On 210 games that use dosbox, 205 uses the 0.74...
More ON topic:
Why not have GOG games install the three latest versions of DOSBox? Quite a bit of work to change all those games now. Thinking back to 2008 I can easily see how they chose to do as they did though as new versions of DOSBox kept coming out now and then.

Things wont change too much anyway.
Create a general DOSBOX can create problems?
Then create a DB0.74 directory for dosbox 0.74 and others for others versions.
Because 205 of 210 games use this version, can be created 2 or 3 different directory, or at least one for the 0.74 and others inside specific games.
Have 3 osbox dir is acceptable, having 40 or more... a little less.
Maybe the diskspace sicked this way is few, but multiply for all the 200 and more games and it is no more so "few"...
