They're no longer direct competitors.
HB is just a key reseller, no matter what's the destination platform. Perhaps it's even reasonable to diversify a bit for their own safety.
A little bit bummed that I missed it, I wish that GOG had said something in the home. I had to much going on to check freebies on other sites. Why am I informed multiple times that I can get a free game making a purchase with VISA and not be told I can have a GOG game through Humble?

Just subscribe to HB newsletter?
But honestly there are multiple ways to avoid such situations. Personally I'd recommend IsThereAnyDeal. They allow you to import your wishlist, customize notifications and in my case it works really nice – informing me only about interesting deals and freebies. Removing their emails (~ once a day), when I'm not interested, costs me 1-2 seconds and I guess it just proved to be worth it.

I do all of this but those days I really had it over my head, I was outside home too for days waiting for work related mails and I wasn't in the mental space of checking the promotion folder of my mails or other, but I would have noticed a news post from GOG, because I look at it from my phone to see new releases, should the world end I'd still do that XD
I know it's my "fault" for missing a giveaway but it would have been nice fro GOG to make a news entry or a FB post, instead of 20 CP2077 commercials. But it's ok, really, I just wonder why make a deal with Humble and say nothing on your own site! I hope there's more in the future and Humble GOG keys too like for Steam.

Sure, understand. I guess it was more just a HB's promo. Like their Steam-keys giveaways not mentioned by Steam itself. But sure, I agree, it would be nice to inform about such events here.

How's your job search?

Because its a Humble promo. Not a GOG one. Advertising someone else's promo isnt good sale practice.Draw away from potential sales of the game here.

[OT] I had been told I was about to begin a new job then suddenly the very morning they told me they had stopped hiring for now...so I'm still at home playing games, sending CVs and crossing fingers.

I don't know about it when they are selling Epic Store Games on Galaxy. But I guess they have different deals.

Probably the right answer. But it is interesting timing, a promo encouraging people to link HB and GOG accounts just before CP2077 hit, being sold on HB as well.
Still, either way it was done, being announced only on HB and not GOG also aids GOG, since it only points HB users to GOG and not the other way around.

The massive giveaways thread is handy too.

I post there too :) I just had too much going on
Sometimes you just miss a giveaway when you're busy and your mind is elsewhere, and I can live with it. Also sometimes I check gg.deals and the freegamesfindings reddit.

alexandros050: Can we unlink our gog account after we claim the game?
avatar
DoomSooth: Is linking with Humble permanent? I know it is with Steam and GOG Connect.
avatar
dr.schliemann: I'm not sure you can unlink the account, but only ask support to change the account you are linked to.
avatar
Lexor: If you are really going to link and then to unlink then let me know if the unlinking is some troublesome process.
I'm currently in the same situation as you.
If somebody else knows then I also would like to know what data is transferred by this link.
Yes, can now confirm that HB support will unlink the account, have done it for me. They will ask for the order ID first though (or a previous order ID, at least), so be sure to have that. At least for the moment, the game still shows up in both HB (listed as redeemed to GOG account, not listing account name anymore) and GOG library.

I occasionally use FreeGameFindings at Reddit as suggested, but mostly I use the more user friendly -

https://www.indiegamebundles.com/category/free/

It doesn't list every single thing like the Reddit site, but it lists major freebies and is much easier on the brain.
