I'm going to play Devil's Advocate concerning Streets of Rage Remake.
Everyone & their mommas are using the term IP in game related conversations, yet this seem to be another case when nobody really understands the term, or word they're using. Kinda like the word literally.
Now, since SoR IS a Sega property, they would always have to shut down the project, in order to avoid opening a very dangerous precedencent when it comes to using Sega's & anyone else's intellectual property.
If Sega really was the bastards you make them out to be, they would've shut the game day one. But they allowed it to be complete AND THEN, they "shut it down".
Listen, I'll be the first to say that Sega's are absolute boneheads when it comes to decision making. But I'm pretty sure even they know what happens to a downloadable COMPLETE game in this day & age.
So let me explain it to you veeeeeeeeery slowly: they allowed the game to be completed, quite likely knowing full well that it'll be uploaded everywhere until the end of the internet, and then demanded that it be shut down, in order to protect their IP.
So the game is out, completed, had a patch, we have the game & Sega did their part to protect what belongs to them. Everyone's a winner. What ELSE do YOU think you're entitled to? Give me a break.
