MajicMan: [...]
Seriously, Capcom put Dragon's Dogma on here, why can't we get Capcom's catalog of great old games. Mega Man series, Ghost 'N Goblins series, Bionic Commando, 1942, 1943, Final Fight, SFII and SFII series.
From my understanding, we've had Capcom USA on GOG for years, now, but the only game they are allowed to publish is the awful PC port of Street Fighter Alpha 2. Seriously, Capcom put Dragon's Dogma on here, why can't we get Capcom's catalog of great old games. Mega Man series, Ghost 'N Goblins series, Bionic Commando, 1942, 1943, Final Fight, SFII and SFII series.
I'm not sure whether Dragon's Dogma is published on GOG by Capcom USA, or if "proper" Capcom International (JPN) has finally become an official GOG publisher. If the game is published here by the former, chances are Capcom US can only sell these two titles, and the chances of seeing more Capcom games on GOG is very slim. If, on the other hand, we finally got Capcom International on board, we *could* potentially see more of their games in here, but you do have to mind a few things:
- Japanese developers and publishers, including Capcom, aren't too PC-friendly and, in fact, most of the games/series you mentioned don't even have PC versions, so the likelihood of them landing on GOG is practically none;
- GOG only sells PC games, unless they're ports made by other companies (in this case, DotEmu made the SNK Neo Geo ports), and none of the non-PC games you listed have official ports;
- even if a Capcom game is on Steam or on PC altogether, GOG is still a DRM-free store, and Japanese devs and publishers don't usually do DRM-free, even if they have a few games on PC;
*If* Dragon's Dogma is, in fact, published on GOG by Capcom International, and not just Capcom USA, I think the most likely games they'll sell in here are some Resident Evil titles, maybe Street Fighter IV (Street Fighter V is too "new" to be on GOG), with a bit of luck some of the Mega Man X games, the Lost Planet series, (maybe?) a few Devil May Cry games, (hopefully not) the 2008 Bionic Commando or, with a bit of luck, the first two Dead Risings. Mega Man Legacy collection could potentially qualify as old games, but it was released in 2015 and therefore it might be too "recent" for GOG. Plus, you have to remember Capcom's older games are mostly associated with consoles, and the vast majority of the GOG user base consists of PC gamers (sometimes even annoyingly so), and probably neither GOG nor Capcom are very interested in releasing "console" games in here, since most of the customers don't have "console nostalgia".
