low rated
I have decided to announce a new roguelike that I have invented. It does not yet have a title, but here are some of the awesome features of this roguelike:
* All areas are hand-crafted; no random generation!
* Can save/load whenever you want; even if you die, just reload from your last save!
* Exciting real-time combat!
* Smooth motion: No need to stick to a rigid grid!
* Exciting battle scenes! No longer is combat confined to the dungeon you're in; battles take place in a separate battle arena!
* Very simple gameplay! No need to choose between multiple ways to solve problems, as the game will only present you with one obvious way to proceed!
* No long-term resource management; all your resources (including things like consumables) are replenished after each fight! Go all out on every battle! (Of course, the game will be balanced so that doing so doesn't make things too easy.)
* No need to fight! (Or at least, no need to fight all the time.) Sometimes there are other ways to deal with enemies! (Actually, in order to be consitent with an earlier part, every encounter that can be solved peacefully *must* be solved peacefully.)
* No need to worry about getting lost! The game is extremely linear, no need to explore!
So, how does this roguelike sound? Do you think you would play it?
Disclaimer: I am not actually intending to make such a roguelike. This post is intended as satire; I am making fun of the classification of games into genres. (Just compare this roguelike to the Berlin Interpretation definition of "roguelike".)
Edit: Why is this topic "low rated"? It is extremely annoying for those who want to follow the topic.
