So Saint's Row 2 and 3 now is available on Linux on Steam, what's the chance it gets released here? Since Both is available here.
I really hope they get released here too, although I'm pessimistic about the chances of it happening & suspect these will end up just being yet more additions to the "Games that have native linux ports...elsewhere" GOGmix.

I strongly recommend that anyone interested in seeing these here contact Deep Silver about them. Deep Silver's contact details can be found here: https://www.deepsilver.com/en/contact/

It may also be worth using the form here: http://www.dsvolition.com/contact/

Asking GOG about it *might* help, but based on some of the replies I've had from developers/publishers I've contacted about getting missing Linux builds here I'm not sure that GOG actively pursues them (at least when it comes to games released here prior to GOG introducing Linux support, or games that get ported to Linux some time after their release here).

yes, seems GOG doesn't care about their customer satisfaction. Asked about getting Linux dosbox builds and told it might happen before the extinction of mankind.
Since I already have the games here, and solely run Arch Linux, I would greatly welcome the Linux releases. Trouble is, though, since I already have the games here, GOG doesn't get much for my happiness, or that of other people who already have them. I mean, I am already praising GOG when talking about games with my friends, I can't do much more, can I? So, how much are they predicting to gain by adding Linux releases for those games, and is that possible gain worth the time and money it costs?

In my case I buy gift copies for friends, giveaways etc

Edit: also it's about more than just direct short term income, but customer satisfaction & long term income

Please also vote on the community wishlist. While GOG employees don't read all the forum posts, they will notice the increasing numbers (if they're increasing fast enough).

Which is why I mentioned "happiness" and mentioning GOG in conversations, but that was probably unclear.
Nice.
However.. is it something wrong with system requirements or with me? I bloody hate wrappers..
Anyway, I really hope game will come here as well, not going to buy another copy on steam.
Yup I wouldn't hold my breath on gog to give use more linux games. There track record sucks.
There are so many SO MANY windows/Linux versions of games on steam and humble. I know it sucks when you by a game here only to find out eventually, when the port for an older games is released else where it's not going to be here.

GOG does not care as we have seen countless times in the GOG forum, they don't replay.
GOG just simply does not care.

So all you linux users, myself included. We will have to look else where for games.
I don't even know why gog has a Linux section, they should just delete it.

Just a quick reply, since you address all Linux users in your post.

As a long-time Linux user, I think GOG has done pretty well with regard to Linux releases. Granted, not every Linux game that's on Steam is on GOG, but you have to take various issues into account, both technical and legal.

I'm not planning on entering into an extended argument, just putting forward my own opinion, as you have expressed yours.

it's foremost the publisher's job to make sure all their customers get a chance to get/buy a new update/port. The store shouldn't have to run after them to remind them of that. ideally.
If some devs/publisher are pushing the excuse that it is GOG's fault for not contacting them about it, that would be really, really weird. And all the more reason to blame the publisher, not GOG.
Another Virtual Programming "port", ie WINE wrapper. Unfortunately, at least for those interested in these games, they've reportedly once again dropped the performance ball. Rather disappointing, considering how well they did Bioshock Infinite.
wicked! I'm doing it.

meh ... :(
* The German release of Saints Row 2 PC is still only available for Windows operating systems due to issues with the original source code.

Sure it should primarily be the publisher's job, but GOG often gets neglected. It puts GOG at a disadvantage against other stores to the extent that it's affecting their reputation, so they should take some initiative regarding it (another big issue is GOG's lack of communication about things like this)

Writing an email doesn't take long and I'm sure that GOG have contacts at the developers/publishers that are much better suited to this & GOG are more likely to get results contacting those than we are sending emails to the general contact addresses posted on their websites (assuming any is posted at all, and assuming that messages to them aren't simply dismissed/ignored - most of the emails I have sent have not been replied to, especially in the case of the larger publishers).

Plus when I've previously contacted GOG asking about the missing Linux versions I've usually been told that they "do their best" to add Linux versions as often as possible.

To be clear, none of the developers/publishers I contacted used GOG not contacting them about it as an excuse or blamed GOG in any way.

It's not a Wine wrapper, but a proprietary one.

Anyway I had the games on Steam already from a bundle a while back, so I'm able to test them. So far I've only tested Saints Row: The Third.

Performance wise it seems comparable to Saints Row IV. Running the game at 1920x1200 ultra settings I was getting around 30fps in the city (some areas dropping as low as 22fps)... after turning down some settings I was able to get it to consistently stay above 30fps. Not ideal, but playable.

i7 2600k, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti with proprietary drivers (364.15), Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon

Edit: Just noticed that updates are out for both SR2 and SR3, will download and try those out soon. Edit 2: Doesn't seem to be any obvious changes in SR3 at least
