Dan Houser, who founded Rockstar Games in 1998 with his brother Sam, is leaving the company. His upcoming departure was revealed in an SEC filing made today by parent company Take-Two Interactive.

"After an extended break beginning in the spring of 2019, Dan Houser, Vice President, Creative at Rockstar Games, will be leaving the company. Dan Houser’s last day will be March 11, 2020," the filing says. "We are extremely grateful for his contributions. Rockstar Games has built some of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful game worlds, a global community of passionate fans and an incredibly talented team, which remains focused on current and future projects."

A Rockstar rep said that Houser's brother and Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser's role at the company has not changed. More information may be revealed on Thursday, when Take-Two makes its quarterly financial call.

Wow, big news in relative terms. If it's a disagreement over the future of development one has to wonder if it's about the online versus story focus of the games.
Did he get sick and tired of all the DRM?
(nevermind, sorry :P)

I hope that now we will get some truly classic RPG game in a GTA universe.
That's pretty sad news given how important he has been for the great stories told in games like Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 and GTA VC, 4, and 5.

If this means less story and more online stuff from Rockstar then I have no interest in their future games.
