I got all the Fallout games in the earlier free giveaway. I launched GOG Galaxy, and it automatically updated my installed Fallout 1 Classic. Now, at first glance, it looks like they stripped out the older extras, for in the game menu under "More," all you see is:

Hi-Res Config
Manual
Reference Card
Support

Yikes! Where did everything else go?

However, if you choose "Get Backup & Extras" on the "More" menu, you see the older, complete list of extras:

Manual (124 pages)
HD Wallpaper
Fallout Series Wallpaper
Fallout Bible (205 pages)
Reference Card
Soundtrack
Avatars
Vault Boy Avatars
Artworks

Thus, those of us who got the game from the earlier release on Gog, or the free giveaway, retain the longer list of extras, just as the screenshots above divulge. So I think we got the best of both worlds.

oh well repurchased more of a say thanks to bethesda for giving us the games back least i have the original ones with all the extra goodies as well.

damian.conde: Excellent news! I joined GOG long after these classics were removed, it's great to have them back, I'll be adding this series to my library as soon as possible.
Me too, I will try Fallout 1 when on sale individually and if I like it I will get 2 and tactics.

Yeah, did GOG ever figure out what is causing this bug with the Fallout series? I wouldn't think the "new" Bethesda Fallout series is any different than the previous Fallout.

Interesting thing is that my older older purchases of Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics are listed in my library as Fallout X Classic., while current re-release is simply listed as Fallout X (X can mean 1, 2 or Tactics). Also in shop those games are listed as not purchased even though I have them in my library.

What can you say about that, dear GOG?

Whatever the case I'm glad that I have all the original game installers plus bonus features backed up. Hopefully we will get an explanation soon, because otherwise this is very good news.

Interesting! This is to GOG and Bethesda.

The old day elite decaf...

I am big fan of Fallout 1-2, but I never had a chance to purchase *the* (drm-free, 1:1 as it was in DOS era) license, when I played it. Why? At that time, in my country 1991-5 they basically were not offered; and I currently won't have even the time to replay them, even if purchased.

I do have F:NV:U and F3:GOTY licenses however (Steam).

What holds me off from purchasing them are three things (based on importance):
1. I don't want to risk license purchased, and then removed from my library.
2. The amount of extras are not worth it. If you offer Fallout, please offer at least the same amount of digitized extras as original boxed version.
3. With 1+2 in account, for 2,99, this is not worth it... Why not the classic discount scheme with 60% of for two titles, and 80% of for three?

Eh,... this offer is sweet and sad. Still unsure, if I should grab it. Come on, guys, you have 6 days to at least add the extras and give a promise of not retracting anything :D

Thing is,.. if you purchased them earlier, the only thing which would play role, is that they stay in your library as-is.

New buyers don't get any extras, so I hardly understand how is this "best of both worlds". Ain't GOG interested in sells anymore?

Err, I don't know. GOG Galaxy says that Fallout Classic is version 1.2. The splash screen of the actual game when launched says version 1.1 in the lower right-hand corner.

BTW, the extras from the older edition of Fallout 1 were downloaded by GOG Galaxy into the !Downloads/Fallout folder. But when I now redownload any extras, they appear in a new folder: !Downloads/fallout_classic.

What I'm saying is God pound that 3rd party client DRM, file-deleting, bug-filled, half-assed pile of festering horsecrap to the deepest nether-realms of Tartaros.

In other words, I don't use it and never will. It's not supposed to be mandatory, remember? I download directly, and I have no extras, other than the manual.

The only way they could've made me doube dip on these is by offering the complete, uncut versions (which the earlier gog versions weren't).

Since that isn't the case (plus the issue of missing extras and some rumors I heard that Bethesda redacted some of the original credits), I'll gladly give this a pass.
