Countdown to.. something? Reading up on it a remake/reboot seems likely. Was just linked on twitter by DotEmu.

Wonder Boy III is one of my favourite games of all time, I hope they do it justice if it is indeed a remake.

Oh God, it's DotEmu.

Still, it opens the door to other Wonderboy re-releases. You can already get Monster World and Monster Lair from DotEmu (DRM-free) and Steam, and I have Monster World 4 and Monster Land on PS3.

Also, the pig on the developer's site is a reference to Wonder Boy in Monster Land.

Ah I didn't really play Wonder Boy in Monster Land much, but the pig was also the shopkeeper in Dragon's Trap. Had to check myself to make sure I wasn't getting confused :p it's been a while. Attached a screenshot from a long play to this post.

And yeah anything which gets more interest in the series will be cool. There's also the spiritual sequel which I think was supposed to be coming out this year iirc, Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. Looks pretty good from the trailer.

The art style looks lovely. Fingers crossed it all works out.

Not anymore. All the Sega games from DotEmu were removed last year.

A little late to the party... I just bought the Wii Shop PC Engine version, searching for the game I just seen this... Awesome 2D art and animation, this remake is so promising!!
