Arcade-like action-jRPG platformer with Metroidvania elements.

Ys I & II Chronicles+, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, and Ys Origin: a series of action-focused jRPGs, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 25% launch discount!

Ys I & II Chronicles+ is an enhanced release of the two that started it all. These classics feature a unique buttonless "bump" combat system, designed to mitigate the pace-breaking repetition of a standard jRPG grind. Combat is carried out by simply bumping your enemies, where the speed and direction of your attacks determine their effectiveness for a satisfying way to resolve conflicts and level up.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana is a reimagining of Ys III: Wanderers from Ys. It brings the threequel into a 3D world with new combat mechanics, all focused on the spirit of non-stop action rather than item and skill management. Thanks to the self-contained story, you can feel safe starting your adventure right here.

Ys Origin is the most recent entry into the series, a prequel set 700 years before the events in Ys I & II Chronicles+. This is the title that perfects the many facets of the Ys formula, combining the best gameplay elements for what the developer's themselves call an "arcade-like RPG platformer with Metroidvania elements".

If you're looking for jRPG charm with action-RPG gameplay Ys I & II Chronicles+, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, and Ys Origin are here to please, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 25% launch discount will last for one week, until Thursday, February 26th, at 10:59 AM GMT.

TWITCH STREAM SPECIAL
MegaPiemanPHD will be streaming the game live on twitch.tv/gogcom!

These are not your standard fare jRPGs, why? See for yourself - this Thursday, February 19th, 9pm GMT / 4pm EST / 1pm PST
This is sooooo awesome!
It's a pity that I got origin from steam some time ago because i thought they would never be released drm free, but it paid off to evade the other titles in the small hope they would become drm free at some time.

Way to revive my trust in humanity gog! ^_^
Gog is really on a run lately.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but still nice to see them here.
More XSEED titles are always nice. Will probably wait for a large sale before I buy them (have Ys on Steam already).

Maybe could have made a Legend of Heroes sale for those of us that couldn't buy it during the Japan sale because credit cards from their countries wouldn't work on GOG :)
Nice release, although I'll also wait for a nice sale since I've had them on Steam for years.
low rated
Steam's base price for Ys I and II Chronicles+ is 11,99€ for me, GoG's is 13,39€. Chances are low that I will by it from GoG :(
So many great releases lately! I'm not into jRPG much, but I'm very happy that these games are finally on GOG.
Hmmm is this all the Ys, (google says more out there although console ports), well Falcom and Xseed your job isn't done, I want to play all those Ys games on GOG. This is a good start though and glad to finally be able to play them here. Keep it up GOG, pay no attention to the screams coming from that wallet, it doesn't know what's good for it till I tell it what's good for it!
Didn't expect this .
FINALLY!

Thanks everyone involved!

The release train is running very fast!

But for €1,40 more it's DRM free and you support GOG! :D
Well glancing at Wiki this now gives us half the games...
Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished: Omen
Ys II: Ancient Ys Vanished: The Final Chapter
Ys III: Wanderers From Ys / The Oath in Felghana
Ys IV: Mask of the Sun / The Dawn of Ys
Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand
Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim
Ys Origin
Ys Seven
Ys: Memories of Celceta
Seeing as Origin is a prequel, this gives us the first 4 games, while 5-7 & Memories aren't yet here. But the other half of the games in 3-6 months makes for heavy anticipation :) I'm sure 4 games will keep you busy for a quite a while... Now i'm tempted to pull out Origins that i happened to get at HB a while back...

Shows up as 15,99€ for me on Steam. If you're looking at SteamPrices, well, they are wrong.
Great release, GOG!

Well I said chances are low, not non-existent. And with 75% off the difference is only 0,35€, so the chances rise with the sale percentage. Simple cheapskate math.
I'm definitely interested in the Ys 1&2. Not sure about the others. Maybe at a later date. Maybe not. *shrug*

Also, I found this curiosity on Oath in Felghana's game card:

Based on the original 2005 PC release, this classic is finally officially available in English with added Steamworks features such as achievements and cloud saving.
Made me chuckle. You might want to edit that bolded part out. Just saying. ;)
