The latest addition to the X4 universe is now available on GOG – X4: Timelines!

This expansion to the sci-fi simulator X4: Foundations will not only introduce new players to X4's core gameplay mechanics, but also delight long-serving space adventurers.

It offers a thrilling new storyline which takes place outside of the X4 sandbox, where colossal challenges and unexpected excursions into the depths of the X series lore and history await.

Moreover, in the new X4: Timelines storyline, you’ll find a wide range of scenarios in which you will experience the many different aspects of X4 gameplay. Playing these scenarios will also unlock new missions within the X4: Timelines storyline, and bonuses for your wider X4 sandbox universe – among them reimagined, classic ships from X universe history.

You can now also get X4: Discovery Pack, which includes both the base game and newest DLC.

Check out what is it all about and get X4: Timelines now!
Think EgoSoft, given their X<n> experience, should be given the option to create **non-virtual** Universe of their own.
The weirdest choice seems to be the forced bundling, since a) almost all reviews call this new DLC too hard for experienced players while it is supposed to be for new players b) many call it very boring and tedious at the same time.

Andrzejef: Same pretty much, played X2 to death and then some. I switched to X3 for a short while, but it turned out to be too demanding for my computer back then, so went back to 2. I think the only thing that stops me from trying 4 is that I suffer a bit of a burnout after 2, and I'm not sure I have it in me to give it all the time it would require (if experience with 2 is anything to go by).
In my case, I got X2 towards the end of the cd era. Then, I had a dead period of about 5-6 years for gaming where I didn't buy much, then went drm-free big time with the digital shift and by the time later Egosoft entries became available here, my career was in full swing and I didn't have the time anymore for games that are that involved.

I figure I'll get around to it either when I'm between jobs (or else my job is less demanding) and my progeny is older or else, when I retire down the line.

Huh? There are no reviews for the DLC, since it's not out yet. No one has played it.
yes it is the beginner's tutorial campaign because people tend to drop this game 5- 10 mins in when they find out all the instructions are bullshit and its not clear what to do
Wait, what the hell did I just pay for, then?

I've had the base game and have bought all the DLCs (including the Community of Planets bonus pack), and I don't see a Timelines installer in my store account page or on Galaxy, and now I'm hearing it's included in the base? Am I misunderstanding things?

Because it only applies for the new purchases - the whole bunding-in thing, it's not retroactive. For the old purchases, you still have to buy the Timelines DLC separately. Which is a bit of bull, if you ask me, but it is what it is.

I suppose mk47at means reviews over at steam, where there's bound to be more reviews because probably 90% of the sales is through there.

Whats gives? I buy the DLC but then I find the offline installers don't have the DLC listed. In fact, all the offline installer files are still v6.20. The changelog says it should be v7.00.

GOG might be taking their sweet little time getting the offline installers checked. Happens every so often with No Man's Sky as well.

EDIT: Installers are up now.

It is sold elsewhere and there are different forums, too.

Oops, I didn't even bother to check that, since I thought the official release wasn't for another week :P
Well, windows is now v7.00 for offline downloads. Linux is still v6.20. Hopefully that might change tomorrow or monday.

MysterD: Wait, where did X4 Foundations go?
avatar
mk47at: Delisted. Not really clear if by mistake or deliberately, but going by #5 probably deliberately.
So, let me try & get this straight...

1. X4: Foundations (Base-game) is delisted?

2. X4: Timelines is a DLC/expansion and is ONLY for X4: Foundations owners that bought X4: Foundations before its delisting?

3. Everyone else who owns nothing for X4 yet at all - they can only buy the X4: Discovery Pack (which includes both X4: Foundations & Timelines altogether) bundle or X4: Community of Planets bundles?

Since the change wasn't reverted and they've added a redirect for Foundations, I'm going to say yes!

Pretty much seems to be the case, yeah.
