Whacking Hell! is a frantic 2D top-down shooter with roguelite elements – and it’s now available on GOG!

The gates of hell have opened: whack all the monsters before they whack you! Collect their souls, ramp up your weapons and your spells, and become a slaughtering machine in this frantic roguelite top-down 2D shooter.

Now on GOG!

GOG.com: Release: Whacking Hell!
I don't like that walking animation.
This would be better called "Walking Hell".
Maybe it's just me hating everything, but this looks like a flash game from Newgrounds or something like that.
I wonder if this will live up to how awesome Army of Ruin was? I felt a void since I fully completed that.
I would gladly sacrifice all those crappy clones for actual Vampire Survivors on GOG.

Army of Ruin may be a clone, but it isn't crappy. I would love to try the OG (beyond the already engrossing itch demo), but they seem to love the anti-consumer site.

I'll try this one out, too. It's a fun genre that I'm glad VS revived.

Who knows. All I've found were users that claim that a GOG release leads to overwhelming instant piracy. Nothing official.
The game looks interesting, but I'm not a fan of this type of combat animation. If I'm playing an ARPG, I feel much more comfortable seeing the arm motions when casting or attacking, that's part of the immersion for me.

Still, it looks fun and I like arcade-like games (maybe its an 80s-90s nostalgia thing vs bullet hells lol), so wishlisting for now. The price is nice too, so that's a plus in its favor.
.
Vampire Survivors gameplay + Darkest Dungeon graphic + flash-like animation.
I'm not a fan of games without their own identity, but I'll wait for reviews..

Finally installed this. It's "meh". It's not bad. It's also not good.

The biggest problems:
* Hitboxes are way off, sometimes too big (especially depending on the direction you're moving) and sometimes too small (when trying to pick up powerups).
* A single session/stage takes too long from the start.
* The interface and information it gives you is a bit too sparse. (Doesn't animate weapon recharges, can't easily see what weapons you have when deciding to take new ones for the synergy system.. etc)
* At least one bug. (One upgrade gives something like 'this weapon's burst will destroy enemy projectiles'... Turns out it's only certain/some of them. I wouldn't have picked it otherwise!)
* It unlocks difficulty scaling immediately, basically before anything else. Kinda weird.

It plays fine enough. Overall it just feels off, incomplete. It could turn around and become something good (yes, even with that art/animation) with some more development time.
