Victory At Sea is now available DRM-free on GOG.com, 80% off until September 21st, 8 pm UTC.
Simple maths: 71% of the world is covered by water so to win a World War, you need to rule the seas. Which is exactly what you will be attempting to do in this simulation of naval warfare where you get to pick your next move, whether it is to assault the enemy ships head-on, intercept their supply convoys, seize a port or do valuable recon. 80 classes of ships between the six prominent nations of WWII, open-ended campaigns, and intense RTS battles.

Interesting concept which comes with Linux support and a deep discount.

I had never heard of it since now though. I should watch a few videos on YouTube before buying.

This is right up my alley, will have to consult a couple of reviews though; i'm more interested to read about the AI and its tactics as well as the overall degree of simulation.

The download seems awfully small for a game of this magnitude, or is it little more than a really fancy looking app?

Victory at Sea?... Raise the flag of piracy, sing the song of victory! :D

I've always felt sea based games, especially non-sail or submarine focused ones have been one of GOGs weak areas. Now if only they would get the Harpoon games...

You can shed a lot of code when you don't have to worry too much about terrain and the like. Or it's nicely optimized. My guess, anyway.
