Cocktails and dystopian tales

VA-11 Hall-A, a bar frequented by the most intriguing patrons of dystopian Glitch City, is open now for Windows, Mac, and Linux DRM-free on GOG.com.

Everyday life is controlled by an oppressive regime, hope is fading, and personal liberty is an unattainable commodity. People need someone to share their burdens with and who better than the bartender of a downtown joint that attracts the most diverse, colorful clientele? You are that bartender and these are your people. Mix them their favorite drink, offer a sympathetic ear, and watch their stories unfold. Every drink you prepare might stir the narrative a different way and change the lives of your customers. All you need to do is help loosen their tongue and lighten their mood - then all their secrets will be yours.

Keep the drinks and the story flowing as you tend to the distressed partons of the VA-11 Hall-A bar, available now DRM-free on GOG.com.

I love synthwave and cyber themed sounds. Not interested in the game at all, so I was taking a look at bandcamp and found the OST: https://garoad.bandcamp.com/album/va-11-hall-a-second-round
Bought! I want to show GOG that I want these kinds of games here.

J_Darnley: Of course. Waifus are sexist because of objectification and the male gaze. They're also ableist because they are conventionally attractive. And they're racist because they're all white presenting. Thank you to France for leading the way in combating these scourges in video games.

Starmaker: Congrats on being retarded.
Congrats on failing to recognize obvious sarcasm.
That's one of the things I look for in indie games: original concepts.
I dig this kind of story-driven, puzzley/adventure games. And I dig anime style. And I TOTALLY dig that trailer music. Oh WOW that music in the trailer. So groovy, I love it.
It would be an instabuy if not for that regional pricing BS, which is a nay-nay for me.
I'll add it to my wishlist just in case they drop that stupid regional pricing thing or in case someone else kindly decides to gift me the game. On a matter of principle I usually avoid buying regionally priced games.

Thanks for posting the links to the composer's bandcamp! I really dig the music in the trailer, and I'm seriously considering whether or not I should purchase VA-11 Hall-A for the soundtrack alone!
the cover of this game somehow reminds me of ergo proxy

omega64: Booze em' up and waifus in the game description suddenly make me a lot less excited to eventually play it.
Thanks for that. :P

sunshinecorp: If you don't booze up your waifu who you gonna booze up?
Somebody else's waifu... ?

CharlesGrey: Somebody else's waifu... ?
I like where you're going with this.

WBGhiro: I'm intrigued, but seeing the word waifu just slapped on there in the game description makes me think it's just some pandering trash. I'm waiting for some reviews.
Well, fuck me apparently it's the Citizen Kane of Waifus.

IAmSinistar: Interesting mixture of elements there, might be worth a further look.
Reminds me of Papers Please, at least in part.

I haven't played Papers, Please OR this game, but that's immediately where my thought went as well.

Also, WTF is a "waifu" ? Someone in another thread always used to mention it too.

Alright, I bought it. I've been asking for games like this, and I have to support them when they do come to GOG.

Figured I might as well throw it on top of my pile of stuff to get from the sale. Looks like I'm ending with 115,660 XP.

No idea, but by the sound if it, it's probably a jargon for in-game (i.e. plot wise) virtual wife or something of that sort.

Vestin: Rest assured, I understand your instinctive reaction of calling people who use terms like "objectification" and "male gaze" "retarded", but I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic ;P.

Don't be too hard on the poor guy. Poe's Law makes things very hard these days.
