alexandros050: By the way for the people interested The Legend of Heroes Trails Through Daybreak II will be released early 2025

There's already a GOG entry for it.
I bought the Ultimate Whale versions of both Daybreak and Reverie. Blew over 250€ on them LOL!

Now I have the complete set on GOG of this series (last week I had only the first game in the series). I made Nihon/NIS/GOG rich this week.

So until Daybreak II appears... next I need to find time to play this series, and all my other pending games.

One thing i have to "give" this versions: It runs butter smooth on my machine on the best settings possible; even better than the Nihon Falcom or any other version. So, from a technical point, this tuned GoG version is basically "supreme".

They are pricey. There really is no better JRPG series though.
Actually, the pricing was pretty fair as long as "XSEED" was publishing it. As soon as they had been "gone"... and NIS was taking over... the inflation was "welcoming us", especially on the DLCs.

Yet, in general, JRPG was NEVER a cheap genre, because it is a... mainly... higher budget game with often a rather small gamer base, so... naturally the few people "will have to pay for the lack on numbers". I still remember when i had to pay 130 CHF for the PS1 game (hard copy...) "Tales of Destiny"... this was over 20 years ago, so with Inflation it would be twice the amount today. However... this game nowadays still goes for the same price, if the condition is well, so i made "zero loss".

Legend of Heroes... i once got me the first title as a PSP game and yes, it was one of the most expensive PSP games ever with over 80 CHF i had to pay. This was the only time i ever got me a "hard copy" of this series because firstly there was simply no other releases "in the west" anymore and secondly some years after there was a PC version on GoG (and other places) because Nihon Falcom traditionally was one of the few Japanese companies always supporting PC, not console only, since the very beginning. Yet, it took them countless of years of making a "western release"... so fan subs was a big demand... and finally... indeed, the official releases. Another demand from Nihon Falcom: Supporting several platforms on PC, not just one single platform... because Nihon Falcom is a small company and they enjoy to support other small companies as well. Probably less likely NIS because their biggest franchise "Disgaea" has never been released on GoG or any other place other than the biggest platform. Not that it hurts the "non walrus-community" to much because nowadays... The Legend of Heroes-series is slowly increasing in popularity while Disgaea is rather decreasing.

I think, just how i feel: The first "arc", Trails in the Sky, had the biggest charme and all the others kinda struggle catching up with it. Sure, technically they are better but the "innocent nature" somewhat has been depleted for whatever reason. No matter what... the series is still great up to the newest title and most of the fans are still happy, even with the newest titles. Just to say... the old titles can be gotten for cheap but they are not any worse, just "different".

It would be nice to see the early Legend of Heroes games get re-released.
Guess you got in mind the ones older than "Trails in the Sky".

Problematic because the PC versions are still Japan only, and the English versions are not available on PC. However, every single game (except one) got some sort of PC version, simply not in English language.

Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes:
PC: JP only
English version: TurboGrafx CD only

Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes:
JP only, on many platforms but actually the only game not on PC yet

The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch
PC: JP only
English version: PSP only

The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion
PC: JP only
English version: PSP only

The Legend of Heroes III: Song of the Ocean
PC: JP only
English version: PSP only

All the newer ones has basically been released on PC + english yet, with the exception of a non necessary fighting game "spin off" and a gatcha game... another spin off... nothing i ever would enjoy. "The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails" was the best spin off and we got it too.
