Tale as old as time.

The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
More than 100 years later, evil is back, as it tends to do. Pick one of four available classes (yes, you don't have to be a bard) and before you know it you're be crawling through cavernous dungeons or the legendary city of Skara Brae, solving puzzles, bopping beasties in turn-based fashion and having a grand ol' time. Along with your party and your shiny gear, of course.

Fancy for some tasty extras?
The Premium edition comes loaded with an Art Book, Songbook, digital novellas, several in-game items, and more.
Platinum also includes the game's soundtrack and if you're new to the saga, the Ultimate Edition will provide you with a copy of the remastered Bard's Tales trilogy.

Looking for something different to scratch that RPG itch? The Torchlight and Tales of Maj'Eyal games are now on sale until September 22, 10pm UTC.
Adding that I received by Kickstarter backer key days ago; they sent out an e-mail you had to opt into.

It is a little disappointing the extras aren't included on GOG (seems like they could have made the keys Ultimate, etc) but at least they're available on CrowdOx. The GOG build backers get is different than any that are for sale - not sure why that is.

Most importantly time to tear into the game.

BreOl72: I'm a backer, and I got my key today.

SeduceMePlz: Let me guess... Steam key?
No.
I'm speaking of a GOG key, of course...wouldn't make much sense to talk about a Steamkey in the GOG release thread.
The Remastered and Resnarkled update for The Bard's Tale is still missing for GOG over a year later.

Does this JRPG thing has auto-resolve .. or.. a "i don't want to fight these mobs, just run away" function?

TheGreatDustpan: The Remastered and Resnarkled update for The Bard's Tale is still missing for GOG over a year later.
Yep. Neither GOG nor inXile gave any explanation on this, besides some vague "business reasons".
Wishlisted for now.
Mostly Negative reviews at Steam, the game seems unfinished and has many technical issues:

I'd selected a GOG backer key back when and now when I go to CrowdOx, it's listed as 'digital - none' and I can't seem to change it no matter what. Why is there even an option for no game key?!
high rated

shmerl: Still no GOG keys from CrowdOx (and I already filled the survey selecting GOG days ago). And this in particular is unpleasant as well:

The game key you receive is for the Standard Edition of the game regardless of what tier you backed at. All your other extras will be available for download from CrowdOx, we have begun sending those emails and you should receive those some time today.

shmerl: Not a good experience for backers, we can't even get digital add-ons on GOG.
Are they joking again?
I specifically backed them at the ultimate digital level because I EXPECTED to get an Ultimate Edition key.
Definitely gonna write to InXile about it, this really pisses me off.

Why is such a problem to give a backers a proper key for a proper edition?
i don´t want to download extras from some third party site, this is why I backed the game, to have everything in one place, be it Steam or GOG!

Other than the fact the game looks like it's from 2008 and runs like it's from 2022 it's great.

Music is really good, exploration is fun, and combat is better than any blobber I've played. Really happy they opted for hand crafted encnounters over random encounters. Every battle feels fine tuned a few hours in. Just need some actual optimization here.
I just received two emails from Crowdox, one with the corrected form URL to select between Steam and GOG key, and another with URLs of the goodies, so I now have all what I pledged for (except the Linux version of the game; Just like Shmerl I'll now wait).

SeduceMePlz: As I said a couple hours ago, I won't be supporting inXile's future crowdfunding efforts since they seem to have no respect for the people who put down money years ahead of time to help fund their games.
