Starless, straight from Meridian4, is now out on GOG, with a 20% launch discount! The offer lasts until February 14, 11 AM UTC.

Starless is a stealth-action game with elements of psychological horror. You, the player, get to know the story of a colonist, who is stranded on a malfunctioning space Ark, infested with terrifying monsters. This classic sci-fi-inspired title lets you navigate the dark corridors, while being extremely cautious of your strategy to survival. It’s up to you, if the colonists will survive, or if they’ll end up doomed to roam the endless void of space forever.

Now on GOG!
"Unravel the mystery of Mister Scratchy, the cat taken on a space trip"

I assume you don't encounter it while it's chased and shot at by a couple Norwegians on a helicopter, so should be safe.
Isn't this Alien/s? I forsee The Mouse filing a suit. Seems like it'll be fun to play though, so better get it now before The Mouse kills it.
Should be well under the Mou$e's radar to be noticed and unless Starless unexpectedly turns into a million-seller it should stay that way.
I'll put not Ripley and not Jonesy on the wishlist.

Why? As far as I can tell, the game is not called 'Aliens', the main character is not called 'Ripley' and the story is not a duplicate of the Aliens storyline (exact same situations, characters, spoken lines, etc).

Copyrights are not patents. They don't give you ownership of an idea. They simply give you ownership of the precise execution of an idea.

Otherwise, 90%+ of the movies, books and games industries would grind to a halt. As they say, everything has been done before, which is not quite the truth, but not too far from the mark.

Very true! One should be open to new interpretations of existing themes!
high rated
Too bad the prologue, which serves as the game demo, is not available here. It takes place in a different spaceship than the one the main game starts in, six days before the events seen in the main game.

For anyone interested, it can be downloaded for free here.

Interesting, very interesting.

A Thanks and +1 to DarkBattler for mentioning the Prologue, also to Mr. Sapozhnikov a big Thanks for putting it out. :)
...and here I though it's a certain VN we're talking about...
Played through the demo/prologue thing last night. Quite enjoyed it. Will likely pick this up this weekend.

Sorry about my previous post, I completely misunderstood what you said. I wanted to post the link, just like you did, but I wasn't sure if the forum's code of conduct allowed it.

Without saying too much, I passed several segments of the main game this afternoon that stem directly from the events seen in the prologue, so players who miss the prologue will be missing out a little. It was really well done, and I can't wait to continue. So far, I like the way the storytelling is done, through the documents we find, computers, and what the A.I. tells us. The story itself is intriguing.

Also, I would say that the difficulty curve in the prologue is steeper than in the main game, but the game does get quite challenging without being unfair, in my opinion.
