The cozy management game about evanescence and passing of time has finally arrived in our DRM-free harbour. Spiritfarer is now available on GOG.COM! As a ferry master to the deceased, you must build a boat to explore the world, care for your spirit friends, and guide them across mystical seas. In the end, when you finally release them into the afterlife, you have to ask yourself - what will you leave behind?

Great game. I love the artstyle like in those old cartoons. Only played for an hour, but I'd add survival elements to the description. You can build things on your ship and grow and cook food. Although the game has a joyfull and happy look, I detect sad vibes :'/ considering the fact, that you deliver dead souls to the afterlife. A bittersweet atmosphere...

NuffCatnip: Sheesh, Kingdoms of Amalur and Baldurs Gate 3 (early access/ in-dev) release next month, but I probably can squeeze Spiritfarer in with my current budget, the game looks gorgeous. :D
I don't wanna spoil your party, but last info I got was, that Baldur's Gate 3 early acces will only take place on steam (while of course the final release will also hit gog). I would be glad, if anyone could proof me wrong... but I remember an interview with Sven Vincke.

As Daffodil would say: Purrrchased! :)

Can't wait to play this game! Thanks for the demo, by the way and the wonderful newsletters too. :) I appreciate the Linux build as well. Hope to see the soundtrack come to GOG one day soon.

And in true Stella fashion, I give everyone at ThunderLotusGames a hug!

I don't really follow gaming sites, but one mentioned Larian releasing the early access version on both platforms Semptember 30th. That's where I got that info from. :)

Of course it could be that that's an error on their part. :)
I didn't watch any of thei developer streams, just skimmed through one a month ago or so.

While I wrote this I found a second article (in german) that mentions Larian releasing an in-dev build. I'll just wait and see wether or not an in-dev build hits gog or not. :)
Here is the link.

When I saw the first part I thought this is going to be typical management game but then the last part where turn out you had the part with people you ferry (Wait, that boy is supposed to be Charon?) moved on give me some melancholic feeling. Looks happy and sad at the same time. If this game got better budget I wish it get voice acting. This is what Triple A games are missing today. The Last of Us 2 felt like it's written by an angry person with no compassion at all.

I think the problem with games today is a lack of proper conflict. While it's not completely gone, games lately have been lacking a proper Devil's Advocate. Compare Skyrim's "I just want to rule the world" Alduin vs Morrowind's "Yo, I'm doing this to get even with the people who betrayed us" Dagoth Ur (sure, there's holes in his plan, enough to say it's simple, but at least there's a motive behind it). Or what about the Metal Gear villains? How about Ardyn from FF15 vs Ardyn from the FF15 DLC that most people never bought? Or, heaven forbid, a player gets to hear arguments from all sides and chooses the faction that they feel presents the best arguments (Fallout: New Vegas)? If you want a narrative driven game, make it hard to hate the antagonist by their complex outlook and circumstances that lead to them being in their position, instead of what we get lately like "yeah, this guy's just an ass."

I understand this game is not meant to have antagonists, and i simply came in here to see why people were interested in it. I feel in a story-heavy game, even such as this with no real enemies, that there should be opposing views that are fairly and accurately represented, especially ones that aren't hot takes on current events, but are principled. Why did these characters die? What did they believe in? Did they live according to their principles? What legacy did they leave behind?

I looked at this title and i'm saying to myself, "Please, not another game where a character is some sort of oversimplified group." I don't know what this game is like, but it's the first thing that came to my mind, 'cause it looks short and shallow at a glance. However, the more i look at it, it looks like it might even be more shallow than even that, like "i am afraid of everything" or "i'm greedy" and you simply show them the error of their ways level of shallow. If that's the case, even Huniepop has more depth, and would certainly be a bit more cozy.
