timppu: Since it is a free game, I don't understand what the issue is with getting it from some other store.
I already have it on Steam, I've finished it.

That's fine if you are happy for it on Steam. But there are people like myself that would like the full collection DRM free.

Edit:

It needs Steam. If you launch it without it you get an error saying Steam Required, and that its unable to communicate with it.

timppu: In that case I have to disagree with you. Since they are making no revenue on it, I don't feel they have any obligation to bring it to as many stores as possible, even if it would be nice to have it on GOG too. (Not that anyone has any "obligation" to bring any game to any store, for that matter...)
Yes, they are under no obligation to release it here.

Likewise, I am not under any obligation to buy any of their stuff here. And having that nagging feeling of missing out just makes me much, much, MUCH less likely to do so.

Not being able to get the whole package is just bad optics, man. Why, if I choose to buy my stuff here, should I have to go through another store to fill the gaps in my collection, just because the dev can't be bothered.

A similar issue is happening now with Thimbleweed Park (with Ron Gilbert going "Yo, free game on Steam and Epic! Fuuuuuck you, gog, lol!"), which annoys me to such a degree I'm regretting spending money on that game in the first place and quite fankly, I'm contemplating trying to get a refund for that game.

RoboPond: I was going to post a lengthy reply about how much this annoys me, but i'll just say this I was going to get Simulacra 2 here as well (as I own it on Steam) but I'm going to not bother now. There's strong chance that i'll not bother with Kaigan Games at all again, as I'm pretty annoyed that your response seems to be either get it on Steam or from a mobile appstore.
"Do YoU gUyS nOt HaVe PhOnEs?"

Seconding your post. I had wishlisted this game, only to now remove it.

Saying it's free elsehere is missing the point. Wasn't GTA V just free on Epic Fail Store? Yet loaded to the hilt with DRM schemes. I am more interested in DRM-free.

timppu: Oh, Simulacra Pipe Dreams is a free game (on Steam)?

In that case I have to disagree with you. Since they are making no revenue on it, I don't feel they have any obligation to bring it to as many stores as possible, even if it would be nice to have it on GOG too.
So it would be diifferent for you if you would have to pay for it? So if you weren't able to pay for it on GOG you would consider it to be unfair but if they don't gift it to you which they did on Steam (and it is not DRM-free) it's all right. Okay, I don't have to understand this.

Also, what do people always have with the word "obligated"? Nobody is obligated to do anything - we are talking about fair treatment and nothing else.

Last thing I've heard is that they are trying to get it to GOG as well. Do you have new information?

As already mentioned, please reconsider releasing Pipe Dreams on GOG as well. This is an important game for the SIMULACRA lore and I find that GOG users should also be able to enjoy it. I also understand that it's not economically advantageous for you, but you have to consider things as a whole.

Personally I'd also be willing to pay a token fee to cover the costs of the GOG release such as the integration with Galaxy for the achievements and the elimination of Steam DRM, but I think a decision that would make everyone happy would be to offer Pipe Dreams together with SIMULACRA 2. We would have all the chapters of the saga on GOG, and you would surely be rewarded with more sold copies of the game that would at least cover the additional costs, and you would surely gain the trust of all users here.

No new information, just conjecture. You have more inside knowledge than I do, but their "gog is invite only" story sounds like a bunch of rubbish to me. If they wanted it to be on gog at the same time as the other storefronts, it should have been feasible. Let's see if it shows up in the next few days/weeks/months/...

Ahhh, thanks for pointing that out! Completely missed out on that!

And this being a free game as well imo this can be compared to the Pipe Dreams / Simulacra situation with the only difference being that the Simulacra devs are just asking us to buy another game from them after telling us that we won't get the free one. One day Ron Gilbert will do the same and we will all remember that he brought (or at least tried to bring) Delores here for GOGers to enjoy ... and we will gladly buy his next game.

Thimbleweed is already here though https://www.gog.com/game/thimbleweed_park

And also good on Ron if he brings Delores here. It just goes to show Kaigan Games that free things can actually be release on GOG.
tasty! will pick this up late for sure

Why should they donate their free time to deploy to yet another store and platform because you do not like their chosen ones where it is free? Sounds like a personal problem to me. This has absolutely nothing to do with "fair treatment".

Well, it is a Simulacra game and it was added to Steam as a bonus for those who enjoyed Simulacra on Steam. For reasons I will never understand they developed it in a way that you NEED the client to be able to run it even though they never wanted any money. They did not do the same for those people on GOG but they do expect us to buy yet another game. You really can't see any downside at having to go to another store to get the bonus game that should be added to the one they are selling (and which I in fact bought twice) here as well? I mean - it is not as if they'd have to invent this game completely new. Remove DRM and upload it - might not take more than an hour max. But like I said, you don't need to agree. Anyway it is not a personal problem since it is not just me.

Oh, I know and I finished it. The next game from Ron Gilbert I was talking about was ... the next game ... whatever that will be :)

No "Pipe Dream" here, NO BUY. Deleted from wishlist. Sorry GOG, fault of it's publisher.
Well, just to balance all the negativity ... I bought it! Just thought I should tell you, and nothing inside me hurts or bothers me in the least. :-)
