What some others have said, this is AMAZING to have here, but at the same time I want to know about the hauntings (if they're there or not).
As far as I know (and don´t take my word for it), there is no PC version of the game that has all of the hauntings. To get them in the game, Konami would have to make a new conversion from the console game to PC.
However, I hope someone proves me wrong.
Is there like an essential "how-to-set-this-up"-guide for 4? I remember that people posted such guides for the PC version of 2 and 3 (setting, files to download, etc.). Is there such a guide for 4 or is vanilla fine (with a laptop, hence no widescreen)?

Footnote: Shadow of Memories is probably one of the three games I want to see on GOG the most. Actually never played it but always was interested.

MartiusR: I've got a question regarding this part of the series - I've never played in any Silent Hill game. Is story presented in the game "independent" from previous games? Or it somehow continuing it?
avatar
Garugo: 1 and 3 are directly related, 2 is its own thing, and 4 is independent with just a couple of non-plot links to 2. You are good to go if this is your first Silent Hill game.
avatar
macrodeath: This is a independent game, with original story line. There are some references between most Silent Hill games, but are completely original stories. Only the first and third game have a direct link between them.
I wanted to know that as well. Thank you for your replies. I'll put this into my wishlist for the moment. Hoping for a release of 2 & 3.

XYCat: Someone mod this and add Tommy Wiseau into the game
Now that would be horror

Huh? Missing hauntings, what do yo mean?
I did play the game when it came out, so i wonder what is meant by missing hauntings.
I am both really happy to see this here and a little (OK, more than a little) concerned that we are starting with SH4. I don't think that problems of so called "HD collection" would stretch to original PC versions. SH2 would have been a home run. The only optimistic explanation that I can think of is that this is meant to boost sales of SH4, since these could possibly be lower if it was released after SH2 and 3 (SH4 is generally considered to be worse than those two).

kud13: I don't think GOG would publish a controller-only game, though.
They already did: Trailblazers. But this should not be a problem here - PS1 emulation is.

Apparently, six of them (marked with an asterisk here) are missing from the PC version.

Yeah just noticed it, didn't know about this before.
Definitely wishlisting this game.

Missing from the original PC retail version. There's been no confirmation that this is also the case in this GOG release.

Somebody claims that at least one of the originally cut ones is actually there.
Not a fan of horror games, but more franchises coming here is always good.
Edit: I just find it myself, it is great release here!

Someone should use triggering guides for the hauntings to confirm the existence of them.
Thanks a lot GOG and Konami for bringing Silent Hill 4 to us. Of course, instantly bought as instantly bought will be SH1, 2 and 3 when you bring them ;)
