IronArcturus: So how does Shadowrun: Hong Kong compare to the previous Shadowrun games?
avatar
MikeMaximus: I'm about 4 hours in now, it's living up to my expectations and then some. I love the new character models for each race and the matrix so much better. The characters and writing are great and i'm just getting into it. However if you didn't like the other games this one isn't radically different. It's a more polished and feature enhanced version of the prior games, which is fine by me!
So is SR:HK like an expansion pack? Or does it directly correlate to a previous SR game?

It's a fresh story with new main characters in another location of the same Shadowrun setting. As with Dragonfall it stands on it's own.

MikeMaximus: Backers got extras that the Deluxe Edition doesn't have, such as all the Shadowrun soundtracks, not just HK. All the Deluxe Edtion has that $15 backers didn't get is the digital art book. In terms of cost, I just don't see anything to get that upset about.
Those soundtracks are included with Dragonfall, which backers are likely to own. Not much of an "extra".

And again:

SeduceMePlz: Which of these sound better?

A. Help us fund this game and get the best price in return.

B. Help us fund this game and get a worse deal than later preorder customers.

Which do you think will encourage more pledges? Which strikes you as the better way to treat your most enthusiastic fans?

Sorry, but your whining about this point is ridiculous. As $15 backer you did get the best deal and helped support a great game being made.

No one answers your question because it has an obvious answer, and doesn't even apply to your arguement.

Or because you're defending a company because you like them rather than assessing their actions objectively.

I'm not calling for a boycott or anything drastic or extreme here. All I'm saying is that I'm not going to support their Kickstarters if they're going to do this kind of thing.
have the same issue with the pre order bonus and sent a ticket to support. Hopefully be a quick fix. Played 15 mins this morning and it seems to play well.
The bonus code should be working now. Just managed to redeem mine. =)
Confirmed, my bonus code worked as well, looks like they fixed the issue

Gonchi: Thanks, I just heard back from them with confirmation:

"Backers receive the standard version of the game on all platforms. All digital rewards can be found in your BackerKit account."
I'm kinda getting sick of Kickstarters giving the standard/barebones editions for GOG, etc. and having the extras or whatnot elsewhere
Got it working now thanks for letting me know.
Meh, I have the first two and not played yet, so this can go on wishlist for now

Shadowrun Returns doesn't shine. Good combat system (and I'm usually not so much into turn-based), good character creation, not-so-good story.

Shadowrun Dragonfall is WAY better. Nice party with good sidequests and nice story. I picked up both of'em on sale here on GOG, but while I recommend Dragonfall you can avoid Returns, IMHO. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Hong Kong, I'll try it very soon!

The pre-order code works now!

Thanks GOG-Support-Crew!
Got the code in my shelf and redeemed it.

As BreOI72 said, thank you very much GOG support crew, especially Cwaniak.

Sent support a screenshot of the game page a short while ago, since I have no code showing at all, just to show them it's missing. Hopefully, it won't be too long before I get one! :-)

Mind you, they've always been good the few times I've contacted them, so I doubt it'll be much of a long wait.
