Swedrami: Couple more FMV games (of varying quality) to drop votes on:
Night Trap, The Daedalus Encounter, and Ripper, fo' sho'!

Contradiction is DRM-free on both Humble Bundle and Steam.

Pax-Christi: Why was this even made?.

CastleRivacheg: Nostalgia cash grab, gotta be.
as for the question related to the title back in the day, shovelware.
Nostalgia for what?, an AVGN video?.
Corpse Killer next please. It's probably the campiest 90s FMV on rails shooter. I still own the Mega CD version.

(Plus it got revived for release on modern consoles recently)

amok: 'Plumbers Don't Wear Ties' became a symbol of everything people perceived as being wrong with the 3DO.
German Wikipedia's article on the 3DO proves you're right. (Or you wrote it.)

I did not know this platform and was interested, what it was bought for back in the day.

Translation:
The software offer was relatively low and contained only a few titles, but graphically could stand out from the competition. "The Need for Speed" and "FIFA International Soccer" in partickular showed the console's 3D skills. "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties" became a particularly well-known game of 3DO due to its negative reviews.

amok: The 3DO gained a reputation for being filled with crap games, and it seemed like just anything got licensed...and the system struggled to gain any traction.

'Plumbers Don't Wear Ties' is often cited as a major part of this damaging reputation, which they never managed to reverse.
I'm pretty dang sure the retail price of $700,- played a huge part in the console's downfall.
A much bigger part than a crappy game.
$700,- was more than a Nintendo SNES and a Sega Genesis combined (~$400).

Did the low license fees ($3,-) also play a role? Sure.

But all together, the console simply couldn't compete with its competitors.
Not price wise, and not games wise.

I can appreciate the value of being able to check something particularly bizarre, trashy or notorious for yourself out of sheer curiosity, but I'd estimate that value at a fraction of this price.

BreOl72: (and I haven't even played it on YT)
That's why you don't have my same dilemma! Now, whether playing it was fun, or it simply damaged my poor brain permanently, remains to be seen.

All games deserve to be preserved, but that does not mean all games need to be sold or should be available to buy. gOg is a store, and we should not rely on stores for preservation. Stores are inherently biased, and we can never achieve true preservation if it is store-based. This is why for all other art forms, we have museums, collections, and archives, usually provided by society, community, and the public. For example, the British Library has an archive containing one copy of all books released in the UK; no matter quality or profitability - this is what true preservation entails.

This is missing for games, granted, but there are initiatives out there set up to collect and preserve digital games and related materials (such as cover art, design documents, and so on). It is a problem for other popular culture art as well, and copyright has a lot of the blame here.

It's ok if this game ceases to exist.

It't not a game, it's not porn, it's not art, and it's not comedy.

It represents everything awful about this medium and doesn't have any redeeming qualities at all.

People should not be supporting this, benefiting from this, or encouraging anyone to try and promote anything like this.

It makes gamers look bad. It's radioactive trash and should be shoveled into a barrel and buried deep in a Utah Salt Mine.

Go and sort out the laws to allow libraries to stream games remotely and then maybe you'll be able to argue your point.

Until then, this garbage goes into my cart, while you can ignore it.
I'll pass on this, I have played the original 3DO version (play being used very loosely) and frankly this is not worth the price they are asking for how little content there is.

Frankly this game is only famous for it's reputation gained from classic AVGN and similar videos rather than being a game.
Why is this here? Why does it exist? Why, GOG, did you decide to include it in your catalogue?
Fuck, LRG, I think I'm going to be sick.

Edit: At least they can't withhold digital purchases compared to physical ones. :P
