Abe's Oddysee reconstructed.

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, a critically acclaimed restoration of Abe's Oddysee, is available now on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux with a 10% launch discount!

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty earns the right to call itself a true remake. It's so much more than just a graphical upgrade, it's a modern retelling of the unforgettable experience that Abe's Oddysee was all these years ago. The unsettlingly beautiful visuals, the disturbingly odd universe, and the unforgivingly difficult gameplay were enough to leave a lasting impression on anyone who encountered Abe's Oddysee. Seventeen years later, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty retains the setting, the sounds, and the flavor; all brought up to modern platforming par, and beyond, with updated controls, refined mechanics and a reconstructed experience.

Also available for purchase are two pieces of DLC:
-Bonus level: Alf's Escape, a brand-new extensive level with completely fresh New 'n' Tasty mechanics.
-Alternative costume: Scrub Abe

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty makes a tremendous impression, rose-tinted glasses not required. It's available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% launch discount will last for one week, until Wednesday, March 4, at 4:49 PM GMT.

Klumpen0815: This is so low it's already insulting.
I'm surprised it has no reviews yet. How different from the days of Omerta.

At least they did not forget to regionally price this $1 gem.

Splatsch: I must say I disagree with darthspudius (sorry ^^") : for me, the original is always one of the best video game (it's on my "all-time top games", and they aren't a lot). It aged on some things, mainly...difficulty for some people I would say.
If you have questions, don't hesitate :)

I'm absolutely not interested in the remake. The original, for me, is perfect (and hasn't DLC. And didn't needed it to be perfect). And some reviews I read pointed to small issues the original didn't had, and who are important for me (in the gameplay, and in ennemy AI)(not big issues, but it appear the original was better, at least for my taste). And I love the original graphics (the new ones aren't convincing me and attracting me at all)...
I'm not neutral : I played it when it was launched, and since (1997 if I don't mistake), I love it and play it again from time to time with a lot of pleasure. It's a game with "personality". And if you like reflection/puzzle plate-formers with some difficulty and a lovely world executed perfectly, play the original. And if you have finished it and want more, play the sequel :D (which is as good !)
I second that; I love the original game, i played it for the first time when it was released on Playstation and not only it is one of the best games on that console, it is one of the best platform games i've played ever, in any system! As you said, the game definitely has a wonderful personality. The new, shiny graphics don't attract me either; in fact, as i see it in the screenshots it looks like a Trine mod to me! To be honest, i don't see myself getting it at all, better spend my money in another GOG release.. My 2c.

ps. @ Oddoworld Inhabitants: 0.99 euro for a cosmetic DLC? Bah! Give it for free guys... :/

IAmSinistar: A separate purchase for a single costume? I think that horse has already left the barn.
And I believe it was wearing armor...
The costume thingy now has enough ratings for the average to be revealed, and it turns out to be... two stars.

I wonder what a one star DLC would be like.

DLCs with less than 2.0 stars:

Scrub Abe has at the moment exactly 2.0 stars.

I would like to give it one star, because the title makes it sound like a tablet game where you get to have bathtime with Abe. That would be worth a dollar, and would give the My Little Pony bathing games a run for their money.
I noticed that this game can also be played in spanish, but this language is not currently listed in the description of the game's page.
Great release!
I just had a look at the DLC for New 'n' Tasty and although the "Scrub Abe" DLC looks rather pointless it is only a few pence should the completionests be in need.
The "Alf's Escape" actually looks quite nice as a little bonus level, so it is not too bad.

Personally I will wait for a sale on this, but I really think that if the main game is as good as the originals then we should be happy they have brought it here - and just ignore the DLC we do not want. Maybe with luck the rest of the Oddworld games will get here soon enough
Steam has a complete package for this, why can't we have it here too?
