dtgreene: * The game keeps track of food. (Anyone know what happens when you run out?)
You need food to heal and regain MP. No food means rest won't restore any HP or MP. If you don't need to restore either then you don't consume any food - camping outdoors restores you to a max of 75% of your HP/MP.
The thing is... as much as I poured zillions of hours into those Apple ][ games (Wasteland, ACS, Centauri Alliance, Bard's Tale I & II, etc.)...

I've moved on.

I don't drive a horse-and-buggy.

I don't have an 8-track player.

I don't even have a landline anymore, and haven't for years.

And I don't feel the need to play CGA graphic games anymore. There's no nostalgia for something that, although great for its day, just flat-out stinks compared to modern technology. I can't imagine wanting to go back to that. I'd never do that on purpose.

Sounds like Dungeon Master in this regard.

One question comes to mind: When it comes to food, will casting healing spells before resting increase or decrease the amount of food you use?
In the subforum for the game there is a thread about the video settings:

Quite expensive for what it is. Do you create a party or is this an Ultima-like?

Someone mentioned above that party members are recruited. So apparently no party creation.

Of all the "classic CRPGs" you could imitate, and they imitate the one series that is more like adventure games than RPGs... (no offense to any Ultima fans)

edit: also why imitate Apple II graphics when you could use someone far easier on the eyes like VGA?

Other similar thing with Dungeon Master is that the game is claseless, even the people you join in your party. The skills, trainers aside, gain points for its use, filling a bar, then advances the skill itself. Similar but not exactly like Dungeon Master or Morrowind or Dungeon Siege.

It is no imitation of Apple II graphics. The game was specifically programmed on and for Apple II with all its limitations in mind. The reason why they did it, was, because dev wanted to write a game for this computer since he was a kid. With emulator to play it on PC/Mac there are more options available as far as graphics is concerned.

If I ever had an Apple II this would likely buy. To me the price is fine considering that you can easily squeeze +100 hrs. out of it.

Personally I learned about the project some 4 years ago watching Chris and Matt doing an interview with Mark Lemmert. Talk about Nox Archaist As it is I will pass and keep watching Matt and Chris playing it. :-)
Question so the soundtrack (mp3) that comes with the game is in 320 i assume?. And only difference between that and the DLC is dlc is flac version?.

They're not imitating Apple II graphics; they've made an actual game for the Apple II (in other words, it should be possible to run it on an actual Apple II if you have one around and can transfer the game to it).
It is even programmed in Assembly. Not a programmer myself but I guess it is a nightmare, a dead language like Middle egyptian or akkadian.:D
