Ueber: Good News Everyone!

According to a Reddit comment, Shiro is planning to implement CrossPlay Multiplayer with Steam users in the next update.

Crossplay is good, but... So, there is no LAN / Direct Connect MP, as I understand it? I would prefer such options: this is unification in implementation, and crossplay and DRM-Free.

eric5h5: I can't imagine wanting to play this on a console, using a gamepad. I can see that it would be somewhat more feasible compared to a more typical RTS game, but still, it really kinda needs a mouse.
Not really. I found this game very easy to control via gamepad... but... some people have preferences.

kai2: Glad to see this here.

Played some skirmish on console and quite enjoyed it... but... it was pretty darn hard, even on normal difficulty. Didn't get to try story mode.

Mafwek: How high is your APM?
I couldn't tell you. Don't even know how I'd figure that out. ;)

I can only say that IMO Northgard isn't a game that demands pinpoint accuracy or splint-second reflexes... but probably only playing skirmish for 3 or 4 hours wasn't a good choice on my part.

You should talk to the developers about that, GOG has no control.
This is a fantastic game, and I can't compliment it enough for its refreshing angle on the traditional RTS genre, but what a shame it took so long to come to GOG...

eric5h5: The DLC is mostly if you're playing multiplayer or if you're heavily into single-player skirmishes, and want more clans to experiment with. Honestly you're better off just buying the base game, and if you really like it, buy a few DLCs later. There aren't any game features locked behind DLC; the base game is complete with out them. I bought at least two of them, and they're fine but not necessary.
Thanks for the informative message. But about that part, you mean the DLC clans don't make it into the story campaign and don't even have story scenarios of their own, so if you don't do skirmishes it doesn't matter whether they're there or not? That'd be odd...

The campaign was done long ago and is about specific clans, so it doesn't have any place for clans added in DLC later. The DLC is really only for skirmishes, to add more variety if you play those a lot.

That's very cool, and "Cross-play with Steam is coming very soon!" was added to the game page now too. :) Makes me wish the Streets of Rage 4 devs would do this also.

BranjoHello: Yeah, I would like an option to pause as well (in tough situations when it's needed) but as long as you don't aim to play in highest difficulty or against too many AIs in Skirmish, I'd say it's manageable.
So it doesn't have an option to set the gamespeed either, like the first Starcraft (or many other older RTS games) did?

That would be ok to me as well, as then you can slow it down for those parts where things get busy and your attention is required in several places all over the map at the same time.

I'm not sure why GOG didn't edit/update their post, but looks like the crossplay update (play with Steam users) has arrived. Glad this happened!
