PaterAlf: I would argue that there is no roguelite specific gameplay.
It just means that it has at least one element from traditional roguelikes.
Could be permadeath, could be procedural generation, could be ASCII-graphics or anything else.
Just because two games are labelled as roguelites, doesn't mean they have anything in common.
And you may very well argue that.

I'd then argue again, that nobody said, roguelites need to share ALL elements to be called roguelites.

I would further argue, that permadeath and procedural generation are probabyl the two most "hated upon" elements of roguelites.

And I would finally argue, that just ONE of the more aggravating (for some) elements, is already more than enough, to
(A) call a game a roguelite, and to then
(B) disregard that game because of that.

You can, of course, do that, if you like. But you spoke about roguelite specific gameplay (in post #14) and I wanted to point out that there isn't such a thing. Roguelite is not a genre, it's just a label.

Roguelite is not a genre, it's just a label.
I count the two attributes mentioned above (PD and PG) as gameplay elements.

And since these two gameplay elements are widely used in roguelites, these elements count as roguelite specific gameplay for me.

You think that term is too broad?
Honestly, that doesn't bother me.

Enough with the abbreviations. PD is probably perma-death, but what is PG? Perma-grind?
