Crime for some fun.

Mafia II and Mafia III are now available, DRM-Free on GOG.com. Each of the three Mafia games is 50% off individually or 66% off if you purchase them all together (the Family special, if you will). Offer lasts until April 05, 6pm UTC.

Mafia II tells the highly cinematic story of Vito and Joe, two Empire Bay friends in the 50s, who start out thick as thieves. Also extortionists. Sometimes assassins. All around wise guys. As their status inside the family grows, so will their troubles, requiring them to shoot, race, punch, or simply outlast everything the criminal life throws at them.

Mafia III introduces Lincoln, a hardened Vietnam veteran who thinks he's earned himself a fresh start, away from his criminal past. But life has other plans and those include betrayal, fierce gunfights, and brutal action, as he's forced to carve himself a path to the top of organized crime through the sweaty, treacherous swamplands of New Bordeaux.
Boost his firepower and expand upon his dramatic story with the DLC packs Sign of the Times, Stones Unturned, Faster, Baby!, and Family Kick Back Pack.
Or simply go for the Deluxe Edition, which includes the whole lot of them.

This reminds me of the time a certain forum member, who shall remain nameless, claimed that thanks to the Mafia there was no more crime. XD
These two games are a big shot, really well done GOG!

boztix: If the games have achievements in steam, xbox or playstation, why have not they added the achievements to the gog version?
avatar
unisol2k1: I noticed this too. Almost all games who are avaiable on steam and then get to gog, the achievements are dropped most of the time. WHY GOG? WHY 2K?
But please 2K, you added cloud saves, you added overlay, please add also the damned achievements. You guys can do it, I believe in you.

badon: There is no GOG but GOG, and All-of-us are GOG's prophets. Seriously, nobody even comes close to GOG. Humble Bundle is the only one that tries, and I won't even bother to look at what they're selling anymore. They exploited the DRM to take one of my games away from me. Never in a million years will I bend over for that kind of BS. You know things have gone too far when they expect you to just accept it without complaint, because that's how DRM works. NO. Not me. Not once, not ever.

I got out of gaming about the time when Steam started to gain traction (and one of my other games disappeared), and the ONLY reason I'm back is because of GOG. If there were no GOG, I would not be here, and neither would my money. When people "re--buy" a game on GOG - BECAUSE IT'S ON GOG - Then you know GOG is doing something right. Steam can force people to re-buy games, but people freely choose to re-buy on GOG. That's how good GOG is.

GOG is like a nuclear powered aircraft carrier battle group. Steam is like a 10 year old kid on a skateboard.
GOG is love, GOG is life.

Next: BioShock Trilogy. C'mon, it's about time!

You can't lose a game on Steam. Even if they remove it from sale it's still in your library, just like GOG. You might be referencing another store though, I know Direct2Drive closing caused some people to lose games they hadn't backed up.

Just because you don't know any of the ways it can happen, does not mean there are no ways it can happen. I have lost 2 games because of Steam or Steam DRM.
Seems like a pretty significant DRM-free price penalty on these? And Steam putting the boot in again (and the publisher too since I understand they have to agree to sales) by higher discounts on these. Sometimes I think publishers want DRM-free to fail.
Awesome!!! Thank you gog and 2K.
please release BioShock Trilogy soon.

Unless you explain how that could possibly happen I'm going with the facts, sorry.
Wow! Mafia 2 and 3 I never thought we get that soon be hey I this is great for Mafia fans. :)
Nice to see these here! On the wishlist they go, for now.
Awesome. I am reaaly glad Mafia 2 is on GOG. But 40$? For a 6+ year old game? Thats a bit steem in my opinion. I will still buy this bot probably on a sale in the future. (I know it is currently on 50% discount but I can't afford the game at the moment)

I'm surprised by the universal acclaim this news is getting.

Mafia 2 is a mediocre game (maybe a 7/10 at best) that is vastly inferior to the masterpiece that is Mafia 1 (definitely a 10/10). And apparently the GOG release of Mafia 2 has a butchered soundtrack as well, which makes it much worse than its original release.

Mafia 3 is a terrible game all-around. There is no point in GOG having curation if Mafia 3 is capable of passing it.
This is certainly a nice surprise. 40€ is quite a lot of money, but maybe I will buy 2+3 with it... (I have the first game already)
I never expected this. Oh boy, thank you GOG and 2K! Despite owning all of these at that other place I'm instabuying them all here. I'm happy to be able to keep moving more into the DRM-free goodness!

Don't know of OP's situation but I've actually had it happen to me

Never Alone was originally released available via develoepred website, but it came with a key check. When they shutdown the site validation people (including me) were forced onto Steam.

Torchlight 2 also had stand alone install that also did key check, that too was dropped and moved to Steam.

Square-ENIX also pulled ability to re-download previously purchased DRM Free version of games... here have a Steam key. Luckly my installers are backed up and appear to work, but still removing ability to redownload with no warning was a shitty move.

Lucian_Galca: Legit did not expect Mafia 3 to show up here this soon. Would love to have that one most of all, but I doubt my GTX 670 could run it smoothly.
avatar
Knochenkratzer: My GTX 760 ran it smoothly on fairly high settings.
Oh and I think Mafia 2 is HIGHLY superior, but that's just me.
Good to know the info on how it ran for you. My setup is GTX 670 (2GB VRAM, Gigabyte brand), Core i5-3570k, and 8 GB of RAM.
