They're killing the peasants at Eisenwald!

Legends of Eisenwald, a mix of cRPG and classic adventure, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Look for the game at 33% off during the Big Fall Promo!

Forget dragons, swords, and sorcery - the Reformation in medieval Germany is where it's at. Legends of Eisenwald is a gritty, down-to-earth fantasy story that mixes the combat and loot elements of hex-based cRPGs with the classic "solving puzzles to overcome challenges" gameplay of adventure games - think King's Bounty meets King's Quest and take out a chunk of the high fantasy tropes you love or hate so much.

Medieval Germany in religious conflict is a grim, unwelcoming place, but it sure makes for a good adventure. It's only fair that as a noble, you fit right in like a piece of the cruel, cruel puzzle. Sometimes, you just have to work a few men to death to turn your luck around.

You can pick up the Knight's Pack DLC for the Legends of Eisenwald OST in both MP3 and FLAC formats, as well as a Digital Artbook. During the first six days after launch, you'll also get the newest Road to Iron Forest DLC completely FREE with your game purchase.

The world is going to hand you nothing on a silver platter, you just have to take it - Legends of Eisenwald is now DRM-free on GOG.com.

PaterAlf: Downloads via browser are still not working (account refresh didn't help).
I asked for a refund now...
avatar
ShadowWulfe: So I'm sure I'm misundersranding, does the Steam version have stuff GOG doesn't?
avatar
aterdux: Nope, both are the same.
That's what I thought, got confused with all the prior chatter. Thanks for the clarification! Getting it later today.

From German thread support's responce:
Hello,

We are aware of some links in the Downloader no longer being valid. We will implement appropriate redirects as soon as we can.
Please note that, while the Downloader does remain functional, it is effectively discontinued, and we will not be making any major fixes or updates to it.

We strongly advise using GOG Galaxy, which, to all intents and purposes, replaced the Downloader - our new application which makes downloading and installing games as convenient as possible.
Besides being very user-convenient, and keeping your games up to date, it offers the fastest download speeds possible, pausing/resuming, and - most importantly - thorough protection against file corruption while downloading.

Just click on "TRY GALAXY", then "DOWNLOAD BETA" and install it on your system. Afterwards, just launch it, log in, and you can install games directly from your Library section.

If you just want to download the installers, please find the game in Galaxy, and click MORE -> DOWNLOAD EXTRAS. This will let you download the installer, which you can back up and/or install at any time.

Funny language from GOG if the installer is an extra. ;)

Used to be the case, but it confused quite a few people about the whereabouts of the standalone installer in Galaxy, so they renamed it to "Get Backup and Extras".

Downloading works fine with the GOG downloader, that's not the problem. It's the normal download links (via browser) that don't work. And it's ridiculous that GOG wasn't able to fix that for mor than a day now. They always told us that Galaxy is optional, so it can't be the solution that they tell us to use it now. There are many of us who don't want any additional clients and programs on their computers.

PaterAlf: Anyone else is having problems with the downloads (via browser)?
avatar
cyboff: e.g. me too... but download via Galaxy works...

I think problem is with that special vs normal version because it's marked "soon" in my library, same as on "normal" game page ( http://www.gog.com/game/legends_of_eisenwald ), but I'm able to buy "special" version normally
( http://www.gog.com/game/legends_of_eisenwald_special )
I'm curious if this means, because GoG assigned the "wrong" version to the account (the "Coming Soon" non-special version) if you'll have issues getting the free DLC as well.

Because it appears the version owned isn't the "Special" version with the DLC, it's the "non-special" version "released" on Nov 11 (I think? Isn't that what the gamecard mentions as the free DLC period?) that's in the account.

:(

Oh, this is rather bad, although one day waiting is still okay for me. Two days would be okay too but one week not. Indeed if Galaxy is purely optional they should work with highest possible speed on making the browser download working again. It should be topmost priority.

Anyway what is so difficult about them? It shouldn't exactly be rocket science to get browser downloads working. Not in 2015 anyway.

I'm guessing it's less about the links and more about the second, "non-released" (it's still under coming soon on the front page LOL) version of the game.

Sounds like GoG's system allowed people to buy the non-special version (the one available after the free DLC period ends) and the account is almost viewing it as a preorder.

It does need one very specific thing; staff working on it and with the weekend upon us, I doubt that it will be fixed before Monday. I think GOG should not be releasing games on Fridays if they don't have staff working during weekends to fix any post-launch errors.

I'll even go one step further - when the game first showed up, there was a version that was $19.99 and another that was $20.99.

I'm guessing the people having issues are those who clicked and bought the "preorder" non-special version via the $19.99 banner. So there's also a financial piece from GoG. Hopefully they decide to take a .10 per person loss and just upgrade everyone to the special edition. In the very least, I'm sure they'll have the browser links active for the base game sooner rather than later.

The game looks great, but the response makes me think more games in the future will be tied to galaxy.
Not good, as i have no intention of using galaxy, i did try it, not for me, not even as a replacement for the downloader.
Optional dies a death, fuck that's depressing, is this what's to come, games tied to galaxy?
On top of that shitty timing for a New release during a sale, gets lost in all the noise, shame as the game really does look cool.

I wouldn't get too bummed just yet - like I said (I'm just speculating here) but I'm 99% certain the issue has more to do with how GoG handled adding the game to their system RE: the free DLC period. I'm guessing the links will be working early early Monday morning by the latest.

*edit that and whatever the glitch was early on release that resulted in two versions being sold at the same time via two different sale banners

Our toilet got clogged and my wife asked me to fix it. I told her to try galaxy. It must have worked because I can still see stars.

I read it as "We'll fix the links as soon as possible (ie. Monday), in the mean time you can download using Galaxy or the GOG downloader." Not a perfect situation but hardly cause for concern.
