Return to the Mothership

Homeworld Remastered Collection, containing the legendary space RTSs turned instant classics, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer, and a 50% launch discount.

Homeworld brought real-time strategy into actual 3D, creating a truly free-form tactical experience across battlefields vast in every dimension. It did so in a way that's not just manageable, but overwhelmingly fun! This engrossing space opera chronicles the struggles of an alien race, the Kushan, locked in a vicious conflict with a tyrannical empire as they make their way to the promised land.
Homeworld 2 expanded on the setting and story even further, while refining the overall gameplay and visual experience. Now the whole saga has been remastered, putting a fresh coat of paint and techno-magic over this timeless experience, so that new and veteran players alike can finally return safely to their true Homeworld. This version also includes the latest massive patch, which brings tons of radical changes to formations, ship behavior, gameplay balance, and more.

The Homeworld Remastered Collection includes both the classic and remastered editions of Homeworld & Homeworld 2.
Dedicated fans can also grab the remastered soundtrack from both games, available in MP3 and FLAC.

Engage in full-scale battle between vast 3D fleets in Homeworld Remastered Collection, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount will last until June 10, 12:59 PM UTC.

MIK0: To be fair we usually ended up paying for the same product twice if we wanted it on more than a store, so we are actually making things right, it's not that they are taking a loss as they were not entitled to that money out the same product. And most dev already provided the solution if asked ( apart from the case in which GOG opposed ), so it's good to have something automatic to accomplish the task.

phaolo: paying for the same product twice -> yeah, it's crap for the consumer.
they were not entitled to that money out the same product -> eh? No, actually they are, if they want. It's a different store..
most dev already provided the solution if asked -> I wonder how many. Also, the opposite connect should be valid too to be completely fair.
You are right, "most" was not the correct word. But there are devs, and not few of them, that do that. But it's just time consuming for them and for the users.
I agree, I'd like to see Steam Connect too. I don't see issue here, devs could already ask for free steam keys for them, so an automatic process would really help.
Even better would be a thirdy party that would manage licence for all the stores, actually allowing the pay once for all goal.

Opened GOG to peruse the forums, saw front page.
Rubbed my eyes, took them out, replaced them, WOOT!!

Thank ye GOG Bears!

Also, lowest price so far according to (cringe) steam add on \o/

(oops, cheaper once)

This truly brings back some great memories. While all 3 incarnations of the game are sitting next to me in the shelf, I'm not tempted to play them or the remastered editions currently. So I was going to get the soundtrack instead, just to delve in these memories of the galactic journey. However, it is not possible without purchasing the game also. This, dear GOG, I find very questionable. Now it is: All or nothing?

Vythonaut: Definitely the best GOG release of 2016.

mobutu: For me, it was Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
I already had it before GOG that's why I didn't mentioned that instead. :P
Dammit GOG, now I have to spend more money.
Nice to see this here, despite the (apparently) slight unfair regional price.

Easiest thing is to sell Steam/GOG combos, like they did with Divinity Dragon Commander or Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten

Regional prices are always unfair.

OH and don't forget!

The Junkyard level says you have to get across the Junkyard, but it never says you have to go through it to get there.

I hope they didn't change that for the remaster.
Awesome even if not 100% my thing.

Thrawn.776: Just get it on GOG Connect , GOG (I already have it on Steam) ;) please!

Epitaph666: Unlikely. For Gearbox/Take2 to bring the game here is already a huge step. I don't think they'll ever go as far as to give DRM free copies to those that have their games on Steam...
Why are you bringing Take Two in to this? Gearbox is its own, independent company that uses Take Two as a publisher for some, but not all its games. In particular these games doesn't involve Take Two at all.
Hmm... maybe it's finally time for me to try this? Never played it. Seems it would be something I thoroughly enjoy.
Well this is going to make a lot of people happy.

You know what has to come back next though right Gearbox?

SCPM: Here you go, it's coming tomorrow. ;-)

Very nice! I still have both Battlezones on CD, so this is a welcome addition!
Cool. I'll buy it a (currently) decent price. ;) Maybe I won't suck ass at these games this time around. Heh.

As for the missing Cataclysm, the whole 'source code' lost sounds a bit silly to me. They could have at least included the original version with a workaround like GOG does all the time.

Lastly, I hope that means The Duke will be returning in the near future.
I sucked at this game when I first bought it on disk, oh, how ever long ago that was. Probably won't be any better at it now. Too much stuff going on right now to have much - if any - time to play games anyway, but I may pick this up later.

But a big thanks to Gearbox and gOg for making a whole mess of people happy by releasing the games here.

Edit: after watching the trailers I now have a hankerin' for some space sim action.
