Dear Community,

Thank you for your patience and for giving us the time to investigate the release of HITMAN GOTY on GOG. As promised, we’re getting back to you with updates.

We're still in dialogue with IO Interactive about this release. Today we have removed HITMAN GOTY from GOG’s catalog – we shouldn’t have released it in its current form, as you’ve pointed out.

We’d like to apologise for the confusion and anger generated by this situation. We’ve let you down and we’d like to thank you for bringing this topic to us – while it was honest to the bone, it shows how passionate you are towards GOG.

We appreciate your feedback and will continue our efforts to improve our communication with you.

By long week you mean Sunday and Monday? :p

you are welcome. :)

chandra: Dear GOG community!

Thank you for bringing this topic to our attention. We’re looking into it and will be updating you in the coming weeks. In case you have purchased HITMAN and are not satisfied with the released version, you can use your right to refund the game. At the same time, while we’re open for meritful discussion and feedback, we will not tolerate review bombing and will be removing posts that do not follow our review guidelines.

tragedy176: Thanks for showing me GOG's true colors. Say goodbye to my money. Is this feedback acceptable, mom?

ReynardFox: Oh dude, I have more games than I'll ever get to play, I have 780 games on here, but If GOG hadn't pulled Devotion, and now done this, I'd have spent an additional $500 or more on here by now. I regularly bought at day one to both support devs and GOG itself as I once truly believed in the service.

BlueyThunder: I've ended up in a similar situation. Used to buy games from GOG all the time, although not always on the day they launched. Definitely bought tons during sales. Absolutely loved them being DRM-free.

I think the last time I posted here was during the Devotion debacle and at the time I said I wasn't sure if I was going to continue purchasing from GOG. Turns out I haven't bought anything from GOG since that post.

I really don't see that changing if GOG continues down this path.

Jigowatts121: I have to say that I feel that this had a somewhat passive-aggresive tone to it
Chill out. It's clear that @chandra is just a middle-person and is taking the brunt of everyone's criticism, while upper management continues on in their stupidity, indecision and/or defiance.

Meanwhile, all we can do is await the real response from GOG [if there is one to be had].

Well, so you're thinking about what to do about a game that contains DRM, sold in a store that claims not to make DRM and whose customers come mainly for that?
Don't you think that we understand the basic message, with this kind of message? (as well as your attempt to bury it, with the famous birthday party, which the staff of the other countries didn't even have the time to translate, that's to say)

At least, there is no doubt about the direction you want to take, I finally got the answer I was waiting for, about my position towards GOG
As, I have no doubt, many other people
I missed a big gog cock-up in my list! Selling epic gamestore games on galaxy.

Seems like this has finally made it to some high profile Youtube news outlets. In this case, Yongyea.

Another day, and this game chock-full of online-locked content still sits ominously at the top menu of the DRM-free store at full price like some kind of twisted gargoyle. This is no bueno.

YongYea has quite a platform. He has more than 1 million subscribers - now it is out there, for sure.

Arundir: YongYea has quite a platform.
He doesn't do research very well though. He called GOG "one of the big three." But really, GOG isn't even remotely close to being part of any "big three."

lostwolfe: i bet he just read it out from a news source like he always does.

i mean, on one hand: good. more exposure.
on the other: oh dear. yongyea.

we-ll. that's 13 minutes of my life i'm never getting back.

it was a pretty typical yongyea video.
Whelp seeing as he was such a cheerleader for CDPR/GoG (Like myself pre-hitman debacle, less pissed more dismayed) I'm kind of impressed that he even picked the story up!
