Return to the Valley of the Mines in this faithful remake of the genre-defining classic RPG – and try out the DEMO now!

With Gothic 1 Remake, you’ll explore a hand-crafted, organic open world that reacts dynamically to your actions in a gritty, unrestricted manner. Whether you're a seasoned Gothic veteran or this will be your first time being thrown into the colony, you're in for a true RPG experience with unrestricted exploration – and now, you can try it for yourself with Gothic 1 Remake - Demo (Nyras Prologue).

Now on GOG, check it out and wishist the Gothic 1 Remake!
It's still got problems (that hopefully will have been adressed or probably already are in the full build, considering the prologue dates back to 2023 or something along those lines) - particularly in regards to movement which may be even more unwieldy than the one in the original - but damn, if this kleine, aber feine horsd’œuvre alone isn't one of the most unapologetically non-compliant pieces of entertainment software of recent then I don't know what is.
If the actual full game doesn't pull a KCDII at the last hour by fucking around (too much) with established characters, lore or overall tone we're looking at the much needed remedy to all these infantilising purple-coloured with any-and-all-edges-sand-papered-away turds that have been stinking up the AA(A) RPG space as of late.

I'm still waiting for that remaster that came out for the Switch to be ported back home to PC. :/

But I guess the remake is good too.
Hmph.

I'm holding out for the Gothic 1 Remake Remake.

Sure, it's about 11 years off, but the graphics are going to be phenomenal...
