BreOl72: Why am I thinking "Shadowgrounds in first person perspective"?
Well in combination with Team 17 I rather had Alien Breed in mind.

Well, I never played Alien Breed - but I played Shadowgrounds, so... :)

Zoidberg: "Roguelike FPS" is NOT an oxymoron. Both terms are not exclusive.
I wouldn't have said that in the first place if I thought your argument had any merit whatsoever. Since I'm apparently the only person on gog (or at least in this thread) who disagrees with random maps and permadeath being either sufficient or necessary to be a roguelike (rather than e.g. an expansive overhead view and simplified combat), and nothing I say will change any of your minds, I'll leave it at that. I wrote a much longer response, but I don't care any more.
hmmm.... is there no "Genesis Alpha one"-Game Forum?
Everytime i click on the "Forum" Button in my library i get send to the
General Discussion.

Also searched in the community tab for the Forum for Genesis but didn't find it
either.

The question i have is:
How do i change the language?
Installed it via GoG Galaxy (galaxy is set to english) but i got the german language at start (although i also have the
"preferred language" setting to english).

Didn't find a point in the game options of the game to change the language.
Also didn't find a setting in the GoG Galaxy Game Tab to change the installed language.
Can someone help me with this?

Thanks!
I would LOVE to see some impressions of this one if anyone fires it up. It sounds pretty cool and the systems / gameplay is all stuff I like...

... but I watched a quick video and it looked like it had the potential to be a bit... boring? Lifeless? I dunno I couldn't put a finger on it.

But anyway - I'm on the fence so if someone puts time into it I'd love to hear how fun it is or if it falls into the realm of tedium. Like I said I LOVE the idea of all the mechanics at the core - just curious how it actually plays.

There are A TON of games that look great to me released recently.

Here's a link to the Genesis Alpha One subforum.

I'm using a web browser, not Galaxy. Speaking as a user here: I seem to recall that Galaxy handles site navigation compared to a browser, so if you're using Galaxy to browse the site, that might be it.
Thanks for the help.
I was using a web browser too, as always.
Don't like using forums with clients.
It seemed that shortly after the game was sold, there was no forum,
so the link redirected me to the general discussion.

Now everything seems to work properly and i can get to the forums.
So I went ahead and dove in (burned out on Pathfinder).

Early Impressions - the game is fun. Awesome "low tech future" atmosphere - think Alien - actually a lot of exploring / building out your ship feels like Alien. The early gameplay loop seems good and drives me forward. It might be a bit "samey" but I haven't even left the first or second space sector yet. I imagine once I start to automate stuff more I can focus on the minigames / activities I like (not that it has "minigames" per se but you sort of pick if you want to go planetside, patrol your ship, maybe check out a danger area).

Haven't put in much time yet but like what I see so far.

And what a great game to play with my new speakers! Finally upgraded from some crappy 20 year old cheap speakers. The engine of the ship rumbles in a constant low bass in the background, the weapons have this awesomely satisfying "thwump" to them when they fire (actually the few guns I've used so far have a great "heft" to firing them - I can't put a finger on what it is but it just feels real and tactile - I know I'm just pushing a mouse button like I always do in shooters but these just feel different).

Looking forward to seeing where the game goes from here.
I'm liking it quite a bit so far. I was worried that, being a FPS with RTS elements, it would get too hectic, but actually so far it seems you can play at your own pace as long as the tractor beam is turned off to prevent any new aliens from coming in. If so, then it's a game that actually rewards meticulousness and patience, where it's best not to try to do everything at once. OTOH this can make crewmembers a bit useless outside of being combat units, since there's almost nothing you have to delegate and there is no time pressure to do things like crafting at the workshop - you can do it all yourself, except maybe plant management. Which is good, because I don't think they're the brighest lot.
