Yogs is in a mafia game on this forum right now!

bler144: /waves Hi adalia!

yogs is participating in the current mafia game. I assume he'll wander over to this thread eventually.

He had held out on the previous installment of Gemcraft b/c it was only on Steam / not DRM-free, so I also presume he'll be interested. ;)
Hey bler :)
system requirements seem nice :D

Recommended system requirements:
System:
Windows 10 ----------------------------------------------> Check

Processor:
Intel Core i7-------> ? i7 ? wow that's pretty high ---> Check : 9700K

Memory:
8 GB RAM ----------> wow ----------> check: 32 GB

Storage:
300 MB available space -----------------> 1.2 TB left : check

But, no GPU needed ? i expect at least a GTX 970 , maybe a GTX 1050 / 60 or up

Anyway, it looks interesting but it is pretty dark and has many lighting effects :D
and there is no mention of a minimum resolution? i expect at least 1280x 720/960 or up

Some information is not available yet .

IronArcturus: Does this version use Adobe AIR or a different engine?
If it uses AIR that would explain the high minimum of an i5 ( no version mentioned, but probably 3.x ghz at least and quad or six core i guess)

It's an instabuy !

And for people wanting to try the franchise, you can play the first entries for free here : http://gameinabottle.com/index.php (it's the dev website)

Edit : Here's the direct link to the download file: http://gameinabottle.com/_misc/giab-old-games.zip that you can find on each game's page like on this one : http://gameinabottle.com/gcl.php
swf/flash games need flashplayer and theat player will be gone forever at the end of the year.

maybe there is a "solution" depends on how the swf worked, some games used a special swf that they would use to retrieve the animations using code ...

Anyway, a default normal swf can be converted to exe file ( dont know if the exe will run if the flash players/libraries are gone ) but many online animations could be saved to disk and with a player converted to a exe file.

Yeah, I know (and I find it to be... a shame, because lot of games online will probably disappear).

The dev permits to play the games online with your browser, or you can download a zip file (I put a link with all his older files (the first 3 Gemcraft games included) which are .swf, and a "portable" flashplayer is included (it's a .exe, but there is one for mac & one for linux too). At least it permits to play them and save them as much as possible !

Thank you for your quick reply , and now that you mention it, i suddenly remember reading about a special 'browser'or something like that ,it would allow to play the flash games.

No problem :)
In short, for what I know, to play a flash game (a .swf file), you need a software (a "flash player"). Until now, you usually use the included flash player of your browser, but adobe plan to stop updates & support about flash indeed (the end of this year), and web browsers will (or already are) abandon including a flash player.
So if you want to be able to play a .swf game, you will need to have the game file... and a flash player. And that's why the dev included a flash player in the archive : this way you have the games, AND the flash player to be able to play them if fou don't have a flash player in your web browser and/or OS.
Hope this helped you to understand more :) (but I may be wrong on some points, I'm not "specialist")

Indeed. After almost 19 hours I've barely unlocked a quarter of the stages. I've replayed some of them quite a bit to ace them. I've only completely bested three endurance runs so far, while fairing a bit better in trial mode. In addition, trying to unlock those bonus tombs (some of which have necessary skills) and successfully defending can be tricky at times.

I like how the mana available also doubles as one's health, forcing the player to balance building out and keeping a buffer for some waves that are impossible to eliminate on their first run at the orb.
