Did you enjoy this anime-style Metroidvania game with an RPG progression system? Well, we’ve got some good news for you then – because Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune receives a new DLC: Frontier Hunter - DLC : Mother's Trial, now out on GOG!

Two years ago, Erza obtained the legendary hunter license and became a rising star in the imperial force. Under the rule of the wise and able emperor, the empire grows steadily. As one of the core forces in the expansion, Erza has won many military exploits. In this fantasy world of swords and magic, Erza will lead an exploration team and start an epic adventure. She will fight unknown monsters and solve mysteries of the world.

With Frontier Hunter - DLC : Mother's Trial, after defeating the final boss, you'll be able to battle the protagonist's mother in a virtual training ground, offering an additional powerful boss fight.

Now on GOG!

Yeah well, Frontier Hunter Erza vs. Tower Hunter Erza, kinda could be compared to Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes vs. Eiyuden Chronicle Rising. The first game was some sort of Trial, a "entry game" to something bigger to come. Frontier Hunter Erza, the same way as "Eiyuden Chronicle Rising" is now the "true game" they had in mind but they was lacking resources or even a certain ripeness in the beginning. So those first games was a pancake with a bit of maple syrup-street food, the second games in line are now already a full scaled breakfast at a pavilion full of flowers and we do not know what will be the lunch... this could become interesting.

Indeed, the game time has been increased as well, guess the successor is now twice that big in content. yet still way shorter than Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes. Indeed those are different genres now, however... the first Eiyuden was the same genre but with more RPG elements, still not a true RPG (i would say a mix between RPG and Metroidvania elements).

Yet, Frontier Hunter is not exactly a "Metroidvania"... i do not even enjoy to use this word because it got no meaning considering the quality, but simply a own 2D action adventure with many of the elements we enjoy from Metroidvania-like games.

Ah yes, the art direction i consider good, i enjoy it. Certain stuff is a bit rough, so it could become polished even more but in general the game was improving on many aspects.

Guess this DLC is the "last one" for this game, with the exception of some required "polishing" i guess we got the full package now.

Xeshra: Yeah well, Frontier Hunter Erza vs. Tower Hunter Erza,
Now that you mention it, shouldn't Tower Hunter: Erza's Trial l be linked as "Buy series" on their store pages?

What makes this game not a Metroidvania?\

(Also, would you recommend it?)
