darktjm: There's no Linux support, and it's still too expensive for a game that I might end up having to "throw away" or ignore for years because it doesn't work on my machine.
The system requirements are low enough the game might work on my vintage PC. If it does, I will be adding it to my GOGmix:

It's incredibly refreshing to see a NEW game that promises it will run on old hardware. I don't normally buy new games, but that's mostly because there are so few that will run on my PC. I will have to carefully consider getting this one.

Linux version?

Considering we don't have steam and galaxy client, with the co-op functionality disabled (*). Should be enough, if you can buy it and play offline.

(* unless the devs have also direct WAN/LAN games support, which I doubts, as that takes some time to develop, and often you have to run your own master server, which will sooner or later become target of DDoS attack of some angry player, putting whole online game off easily for days/weeks, unless you spend another month(s) developing DDoS-aware distributed master server configuration).

I mean, the integration of galaxy things into your source code should be from the very start (docs of the SDK and examples) done in "optional" way, so even windows users without galaxy installed should be able to play the game, and on linux it should simply build into "empty" stub, acting the same way as on windows without galaxy, so the game devs don't need to bother at all, and just verify the actual game works, when build for linux (which is another can of worms, and I have big respect for devs who manage to produce cross-platform game, even if they do it just by using cross platform tools like Unity/etc, it still requires certain awareness and dedication to not use some win-only plugin or tooling).

In ideal world you can of course develop full linux game with all bells and whistles, but it costs, so I can understand reasonable cut-downs.

Easily worked around in almost any game that has this. As long as there's no on-line component or otherwise inaccessible saves (e.g. consoles), just copy the save games to another place every once and a while. Annoying, yes, but not critical.

Unnecessary extra hurdles = bad game design for me. I can enforce on myself a psychological permadeath if I want to. Alas, I have so little time to play games lately, that I'd rather spend it enjoying my games, not have them feel a chore.

I have seen some old videos of this game like a year+ ago, and the permadeath/game over doesn't mean much in this game, as basically you just failed single "run", and you can start new one. If you would be able to save/load it, you would get in almost every run into situations where you would either finish it, or being stuck on some non-resolvable situation (except valiantly dying in the fight), and the runs are quite short (limited by some kind of timer or what it was), did look to me considerably shorter than original rogue/nethack, so it's sort of supposed to be played again and again from the start.

But I haven't seen the late version of the game, so I'm not sure how much they changed it (probably a lot)... at this moment I see only one point preventing me form buy+try, the missing OS support, otherwise I really like this game, looks like I would enjoy it for a while.

I've yet to finish Battle Brothers. And many other stuff in the backlog... I keep this on my radar and maybe pick it up on sale.

You might also want to check your new privacy settings for the upcoming update. Because several users (including myself) had been set to default values that weren't intended - even by GOG.
