To have and have not.

Fallen Haven and Liberation Day are now available DRM-free, only on GOG.com.
We thought the colony planet New Haven was the answer but it only posed more questions. Mostly those of survival. In the ensuing war after the alien Taurans' attack, turn-based tactics, opportune positioning, and clever preparation will decide the victor in this old-school cult classic.

The sequel Liberation Day expands upon the fierce human-alien war, offering new unit types and a revamped research system, this time based on technology upgrades obtained through conquest.
I played the demo years ago. I remember a fun little game. I'm glad to see it here!
Is this game similar to Advance Wars?

It plays like a hybrid of Panzer General, Battle Isle and Cyberstorm. You have the strategic overview map where you perform your turn, and can do things like research new tech, buy multiple different kinds of military units and hardware, like artillery, multiple kinds of infantry, vehicles both light and heavy, as you unlock them via research, plan an attack on a region, set up regional defences for your colonies, etc.

You will be, however, probably spending most of your time in the battle map. It plays in an isometric viewpoint, and much like games of that era, each unit has a set amount of action points for them to move, attack, and so on. You can call in fire support, you have all kinds of different units that perform certain functions. Infantry is the standard grunt, but you can have anti-vehicle support infantry, long range, light recon vehicles made for taking out infantry, heavier battle tanks, etc.

You also can eventually get nuclear weapons.
