Get ready for an immersive puzzle dungeon adventure in the spirit of 1980's home computer games – Dungeons of Dreadrock is now available on GOG, with a 50% launch discount until March 21st, 2 PM UTC!

"Every year, a young boy is chosen to defeat the King of the Mountain." - only this time, it's your brother. After accompanying him to the Dead King's Gate and letting him enter on his own as advised... Well let's just say things go different from there than the Village Elders expected.

In order to reach the Dead King's crypt to save your brother from being sacrificed you'll need to solve puzzles, evade traps and fight a bunch of enemies. There are scrolls to decipher, levers to pull, floor plates to step on, fireballs to evade, doors to smash or to unlock, and a whole lot of enemies to kill. But while Zombies or Dread Beetles are easy prey, a lot of other creatures from Ogres to Dark Elves, Minotaurs and Dragons will require more than just brute force to be overcome.

Now on GOG!
This looks oddly interesting, and mainly just because it's not first person. (Something odd here, I have fond memories of some first person dungeon crawlers, but I've noped right away from any for a long time now, only still being somewhat interested in a few released around 2000 that I didn't play way back, and hesitant even about those...)
But those must be small and quick puzzles, 100 of them and just 5-6h on HLTB, and I also read a review saying it can be finished in one evening.

Oh, seems to have a sequel too. Why weren't they both released?

Hm... I remember another RPG from 2011 that was called Dungeons of Dredmor. The global IP namespace is getting pretty crowded.
Aha. That's the reason. I was wondering why it was sold only 50% off on the other platform yesterday for the first time since forever, since usually it is sold 85% or 80% in sales.
Where's Dungeons of Dreadrock 2 - The Dead King's Secret ?
Oh, this is a great looking game.
Its graphics style is a nice diversion from the cheap pixel look, in which way too many games of this genre are usually presented.
You can tell, that someone put some work in this.
Part of the trailer may have looked a little more hectic than I usually like my games to be, but overall - and for that price - I really like what I see.

Edit: after looking it up on Steam, I think, this is pretty much right up my alley.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Edit 2:
Ok, so after starting the game, I discovered, that it doesn't reveal the keyboard controls in the menu.
It only shows the controller buttons.

Here are the keyboard controls, as far as I have found them:

[W-A-S-D]
or
[8-4-6-2] (number pad)
or
[arrow keys]: to move
-----
[Space]: to close on-screen messages
-----
[H] (hold): to reveal hint
-----
[Backspace] (hold): retry
-----
[Escape]: open/close main menu
-----
According to the controller scheme, there should also be four (?) keys for inventory selection, but so far (chapter 10), I only had a single door key in my inventory, which was automatically selected.
Therefore, I can't tell yet, which four keys those are.

A little heads up: in chapter 5 you better don't step in the way of "magic girl", after you release her...because she will "fry" you - despite being friendly.
Not quite sure, if that's a bug or not...

2022? Not bad but I want even older indies to pop up here. Like around 2015, 2017ish

Stupid village or stupid me:
1) Seems not some kind of a sport but a real threat, so villagers should enter in bulk.
2) Otherwise, I, by my choice to follow, negate the option for my brother to prove himself as the chosen one?

How about 1990s? Can I get a "Witness!" up in here for Steve Moraff?
