Studying the anatomy of space demons.

Doom 3: BFG Edition is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 75% launch discount.
Back to reclaim its FPS throne, Doom 3 adds a strong dose of claustrophobic horror into the series' timeless cocktail of explosive action, horrific enemies, and ultra-violent massacre.

The BFG Edition is the game's remastered version, containing DOOM, DOOM II, DOOM 3, and DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil, as well as The Lost Mission.

Feeling nostalgic or just awfully trigger-happy? Check out our Bethesda shooters sale.
The 75% discount will last until August 28, 1 PM UTC.
How well does the BFG Edition run on Win7?

GamePlayerZero: I can't see it. I don't think being in Germany has anything to do with that since you can legally buy Doom 3 BFG Edition here. It's not even on the index.

Edit: Apparently others can see it. Being in Germany might have something to do with it after all.
Haha welcome to the world. Hidden and Dangerous is sold in SA yet it's not on GoG for us. GoG seriously need to look into this issue of games being available on "you know where" but not here.

tinyE: They made a mistake releasing Q4 at the same time. If this was it, I would get it, but instead I can grab a Q4 that way outplays this BFG crap and be happy with that until, and if, they decide to give us the original D3.
Nah the competition isn't between Doom and Quake but Quake and Unreal and we all know who won that one both on a technical and gameplay level.
Doom 3 is a terrible game, original or censored.

But still, they shouldn't be releasing to the whole world censored versions of Doom 3 bundled with censored versions of Doom & Doom II, just to appease German laws.

The censored versions should be sold exclusively to customers in Germany.

The rest of the world should receive uncensored versions.

In other words, don't make every country suffer because of one country's ridiculous laws.

Please please please include also the original release version of Doom 3 and ROE here. You can do it, you've done it for the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games. And it's needed because Doom 3 BFG Edition is not compatible with original Doom 3 mods. They've changed the content formats so it just can't even read the old mods at all.

And yes, Doom 3 has some cool mods that deserve to be played at least once. Like Shambler's Castle and the upcoming Phobos.

So please, do include original Doom 3 along with BFG edition, at least for the sake of mod support.

My understanding is it was basically made for Win 7.
Despite what it say on its page, the game doesn't have GOG achievements.

I agree that the original version should be included with the BFG. I have it elsewhere, but it would still be nice to have on here.

EDIT: Just looked at my game page for BFG and it says it includes vanilla 3 and ROE?

EDIT 2: Ah I see, it's just saying it's a remake. My bad.

would have prefered the classic Doom 3 but still a pretty nice release !

ZFR: According to the game's page, this includes Doom1 Ultimate and Doom 2. Is that really so?

Grargar: That's correct, but both games were modified from the original releases that are sold separately on GOG.
More details below:

Interesting. Thank you.

The differences don't seem big enough to buy the games twice, especially considering that the new releases are compatible with many source ports.

Because of the differences, I suppose GOG doesn't add "Doom" and "Doom II" as separate entries in your library: can someone confirm this?

No and that's because the old Doom games are inside the BFG Edition. Once you launch Doom 3 BFG, you get a choice to run either of the three Doom games.

Well regardless of what you think of the game (haven't played it personally) GoG doesn't have that option unfortunately even if the publisher had different versions.

Thanks again, but this means you have to install gigabytes of data to play the old games: disappointing. Well, whatever.
Steam shows one update for DOOM3 BFG edition. These must be in the GOG release.

Adjustable brightness value, texture lod bias, and FOV slider sound like good additions. I have the disc version too, but bought this GoG version and will try it out.

Sounds like people jumped to the gun before seeing the quality of the release.
Just a quick question: As the gamepage states, if i buy Doom 3: BFG, i also can play DOOM 1 and DOOM 2?
Is this correct?

DOOM 1 + 2 + 3 for nearly 6$ seems like a steal. I know about the differences of DOOM 3 to the first 2 games, but just getting this for DOOM 1+2 is good, isnt it?
