A true RPG design achievement!

Divinity: Original Sin, the epic-scaled RPG from Larian Studios, very modern but also true to the best traditions of computer role playing games design with its isometric view, story-driven gameplay, and top-notch turn-based combat mechanics, is available for Windows and Mac OS X, DRM-Free on GOG.com! You can also enrich your experience with the Source Hunter DLC, that comes with two unique in-game items, a digital artbook, design documents and a full original soundtrack.

Divinity: Original Sin is the old-school role-playing title you've been dreaming about. If you were ever imagining how the legendary classics like Baldur's Gate would look and feel like, were they developed today, this is your answer! Larian Studios managed to make good on all of their promises of classic gameplay, extensive world, gripping storyline, and flexible system paired with high production value of contemporary double-A titles. With up to a hundred hours of playtime needed to beat the game with all of its branching stories and tons of optional quests the game can prove to be everything you want it to be, and more! It also takes what's best after the modern games: rich and vivid 3D graphics, an extensive item crafting system, and a finely balanced multi-player mode. A perfect mix of classic and new RPG design, if we ever saw one.

Set out to explore the fantastic colorful realm created by Larian Studios, and make a new home for yourself in the vibrant world of Divinity: Original Sin (or even grab some extra Source Hunter DLC gear), on GOG.com. The price of the game varies from region to region, but don't be alarmed! Following the GOG.com tradition we're offering a Fair Price Package with this title, so everyone who is adversely affected by the pricing plan will be compensated with gift-codes (you will find yours in your order confirmation email).

NOTE:
The version of the game offered here comes with the full single-player campaign, but currently supports only LAN/DirectIP multiplayer modes, with on-line multiplayer features coming as a later update, powered by GOG Galaxy, our DRM-Free online gaming platform. Thank you for your patience!

althrian: That would be a cheap trick to irritate customers.
It would be ok if I'd be still able to resell the boxed package even if Steam is needed to install it the first time but I don't think that it will work like this.
What I meant is I think this isn't a cheap trick to irritate customers at all, instead it's a complete lack of awareness that it could lead to irritation on the part of customers in the first place. Also, DRM-free and reselling are two entirely different topics, as you can't sell your GOG games either. And keep in mind that customers who absolutely refuse to use Steam are probably in the minority, even if vocal.

Wishlisted for now. Still undecided whether to buy it here or get the physical collector's edition.

soulsick82: You _REALLY_ need to release these games sooner.
I cannot emphasise that enough.

If it comes out on Steam, and it's not out within a few hours/a day on GoG, I will pick up the Steam version.
And it really upsets me when shortly after buying something on Steam, it comes out on GoG without any notice.
Perhaps they are not allowed to announce this? Part of exclusive deals, etc.?

@D:OS: Instabuy as soon as I'm home. Great!
Why can't I buy the game and the DLC at once? When I put each in the card I get automatically to the check out page. Not being able to add something else.

You can add them both from the wishlist once you're at the cart/check out page.

The new masterpiece for ages

I’ve been waiting for the game like this ever since Fallout 2 was released back 16 years ago. I’m a 30ty years old gamer but this game gives me the same incredible emotions I felt back when I was 14.

To tell you the truth I did not expect very much from Original Sin. I knew that it probably was going to be a good game, when I backed it on kickstarter, but I never expected what I will get. And I’ve got a GREAT game – you know one of those few released once in 10 years, everybody will speak of during next ten years.

Combat system – the best I ever saw in fantasy turn-based RPG. Summon rain to wet your enemies and THEN use your spell to froze them (it’s easier when they are wet). Make them run to you and stand in the water THEN cast your lightning spell on one of them (everybody standing in the water will join the fun!) Damn. The stuff everybody talked about – Larian MADE IT HAPPEN.

Characters – HUGE number of CHOICES, all BALANCED pretty well. Seriously, I’ve tried to create my own character with crazy concept and it… well it WORKED (still can’t believe fully but that is a fact).

Story and dialogs – they are brilliant. You will spend a lot of time investigating undercover cult, mysterious murders, helping old cat find his love (in case you’ll learn to speak with animals) and doing tons of great story-based stuff.

Graphics are perfect.

Music – well I’ve downloaded the soundtrack and listen to it wherever I go.

Final note. If you love deep RPGs. If you love deep characters. If you want to see what a “next generation RPG gameplay” really looks like. Leave everything else. AND GO GET THIS GAME!

You've made a fair point on both topics.
I've mixed up the reselling and DRM because one user pages ago brought it up^^
I think what I tried to emphasize was that if I buy a physical box I want to be able to resell it and do not want to have to need another program in anyway to be able to play the physical present game - even if it is in such a light way like it seems on D:OS.

Nope. Still the same problem. Only seperated is possible.

althrian: On the debs website it says that this game is completely drm free. Check here: http://www.divinityoriginalsin.com/faq.php
Maybe you have to activate it on steam for online multiplayer purpose but I think, looking at the comment in the faq section that you should be able to play it via LAN without steam and co.
Furthermore you should be able to sell the physical copy afterwards if the game doesn't fit your taste :)
Doesn't seem that way:

I guess I'll get it for 5$ or so when it gets on sale eventually. I don't think Larian is too concerned with people like me when there are others who will throw free money at them when the game isn't even made yet.

Hecke: I have no time to read all 71 pages

real.geizterfahr: A little tip if you're looking for official information: Just put ?staff=yes at the end of the adress and you get staff posts only. It reduces the thread to 3 pages ;) http://www.gog.com/forum/general/getting_back_to_our_roots/page1?staff=yes
Nice trick, thank you ;)
avatar
Hecke: , but is it mentioned if I can trade in my gift codes if this functionality is available? Otherwise there is no reason to save them...
avatar
real.geizterfahr: There isn't mentioned anything about changing "old" gift codes for store credit. Your best chance will be to ask support. I think that's something that GOG hadn't thought about yet.
Okay, I'll grab my giant bell and ring it to summon the holy demons of GoG.com with my praises to answer the question of us mere mortals :)

Pixelion: Just one question. I found the following note on the gamepage: (DLC will only be made available on release.)

Does that mean, it`s only possible to buy the DLC today?
avatar
JudasIscariot: I thought I forgot something :P

It's removed now. Thanks :)
Thanks for your quick response.

it looks like GOG did it intentionally like this - to properly send you gift codes (if applicable)

I don't have anything against Kickstarter and other crowd funding websites but the devs definition and understanding of DRM-free is just stupid.
